Dan Pink argued in 2005 that the economy would shift from analytical, left-brain work to right-brain abilities: design, story, symphony, empathy, play, meaning. AI has since made his case better than any argument could. An analytical task that can be specified is now automatable.
If it's Story, ask someone to frame the quarterly data as a narrative. If it's Empathy, ask each person to articulate what the person to their left is most worried about. These are the skills AI can't touch. Notice what shifts.
Character isn't a moral ideal. It's a filter.
Your behavior over years determines who stays in your orbit and who leaves. The result is an ecosystem that either amplifies or undermines everything you're trying to build.
Look at the people closest to you. The pattern tells you something about the signal you've actually been sendingโwhich isn't always the signal you think.
