What do you want us to do about it? We spend to be competitive in the richest league in the world, despite all the money yoi claim we've spent, it's nothing compared to what others spend in the Prem. We can't help there is no money in other leagues, that's their issue. #AVFC

Villa looked on a totally different level to Freiburg tonight.

The Premier League is increasingly becoming a Super League in all but name.

Based on latest accounts, Villa generated around £380m of revenue. Freiburg generated around £140m.

Villa’s annual revenue is therefore almost 3x Freiburg’s.

The Premier League’s bottom clubs now receive around £100m+ per year in central distributions alone. Many Bundesliga clubs receive less than half of that.

Bundesliga domestic + international TV deal is £1.1bn per season shared across 18 clubs.

Premier League domestic + international deals is about £4bn per season shared across 20 clubs.

I suspect UEFA and Europe’s other major leagues will eventually try to address this somehow.

Because the current trajectory looks unsustainable competitively.
