We wish to take this opportunity to thank you for the recent T20 World Cup, a global cricketing spectacle on a scale unlike any other in past years. It was so good that several nations decided not to leave upon their tournament exit, and it appears they might never do so.

As for us, the tournament brought drama and infamy. We staked our claim to replace the forfeiting Pakistan, then realised the harsh economic and logistical realities of international sport. Colombo is not Reykjavík, in so many ways. Then we had the unforfeiture of Pakistan, an event that actually vindicated our 'stay-at-home, fire it out online' strategy. They knew their plan and played it like a fish.

Let's not forget the actual cricket. The associate nations nearly caused several shocks - both Nepal, Netherlands, and Italy all coming within a whisker of a win over the big boys. Then there was the classic match between Afghanistan and South Africa, which was so good they did the Super Over twice.

At the end of the day, it was India's tournament to host and they delivered, blasting more than 500 runs across the semis and final. They brought the fire. We watched and tried to learn, but lava bedded wickets are not quite the same. Conquering Iceland remains the ultimate litmus test of a batter.

We count the statistics and arrive at an aggregate count of 245 posts by us on X and 3,420 loaves of bread baked by our captain, Dushan Bandara, across the tournament as a whole. Our Chairman, a ship captain, steered all voyages safely into harbour.

And finally, the world famous Íslensk Premier League (ÍPL) is now only two months away, the T20 franchise tournament with a sub-Arctic twist. We wait patiently and keep our keyboards warm.

Last one on this topic, and I have been holding this in myself for a while.

For centuries, class divides kept the labor of the poor invisible to the rich. Factory workers toiled behind walls, farmers in distant fields, domestic help in backrooms. The wealthy consumed the fruits of that labor without ever seeing the faces or the fatigue behind it. No direct encounter, no personal guilt.

The gig economy shattered that invisibility, at unprecedented scale.

Suddenly, the poor aren't hidden away. They're at your doorstep: the delivery partner handing over your ₹1000+ biryani, late-night groceries, or quick-commerce essentials. You see them in the rain, heat, traffic, often on borrowed bikes, working 8–10 hours for earnings that give them sustenance. You see their exhaustion, their polite smile masking frustration with life in general.

This is the first time in history at this scale that the working class and consuming class interact face-to-face, transaction after transaction. And that discomfort with our own selves is why we are uncomfortable about the gig economy. We want these people to look our part, so that the guilt we feel while taking orders from them feels less.

We aren't just debating economics. We are confronting guilt. That ₹800 order might equal their entire day's earnings after fuel, bike rent, and app cuts. We tip awkwardly, or avoid eye contact, because the inequality is no longer abstract. It's personal.

Pre-gig era, the rich could enjoy luxury without moral discomfort. Labor was out of sight. Now, every doorbell ring is a reminder of systemic inequality. That's why debates explode. It's not just policy. It's emotional reckoning. Some defend the system (“they choose it”), others demand change (“this isn't progress, its exploitation”).

And here’s the uncomfortable twist: the unsaid ask of clumsy ‘solutions’ isn’t dignity. It is about returning to invisibility.

Ban gig work and you don’t solve inequality. You remove livelihoods. These jobs don’t magically reappear as formal, protected employment the next day. They disappear, or they get pushed back into the informal economy where there are even fewer protections and even less accountability. Over-regulate it until the model breaks, and you achieve the same outcome through paperwork instead of slogans: the work evaporates, prices rise, demand collapses, and the people we claim to protect are the first to lose income.

And then what happens?

The rich get their old comfort back. Convenience returns without faces. Guilt dissolves. We go back to clean abstractions and moral posturing from a distance. The poor don’t become safer, they become invisible again: back in cash economies, back in backrooms, back in shadows where regulation rarely reaches and dignity isn’t even debated.

The gig economy just exposed the reality of inequality to the people who previously had the luxury of not seeing it. The doorbell is not the problem. The question is what we do after opening the door.

Visibility is the price of progress. We can either use this discomfort to build something better (which we keep doing continuously as delivery partners are our backbone), or we can ban and over-regulate our way back into ignorance. One of those choices improves lives. The other simply helps the consuming class feel virtuous in the dark.

But the best answer was,

“To enable you to drive faster”

Give it a thought.

For a moment assume you have no brakes in your car then how fast will you drive your car ??

It’s because of brakes that we can dare to accelerate, dare to go fast and reach destinations we desire.

At various points in life, we find our parents, teachers, mentors & friends etc. questioning our progress, direction or decision. We consider them as irritants or consider such inquiries as “brakes” to our ongoing work.

But, remember, it’s because of such questions (periodical brakes) that you have managed to reach where you are today. Without brakes, you could have skid, lost direction or met with an unfortunate accident.

Appreciate the “brakes” in your life. Use them wisely !!

🚨 Urgent Appeal for Justice 🚨

I'm in the US right now & it's so painful to see my father suffer with thugs trying to take up his property with Police literally looking the other way.

I'm posting this on behalf of my father in case X can help.

A senior citizen, Mr. Rajendra Jaiswal, 64, residing at 4/348 A Saraya Goverdhan, Chetganj, Varanasi is being harassed as hooligans led by an employee broke the locks of his shop situated at C 30/35, H-1, Maldahiya, Varanasi and illegally occupied the premises.

The employee claiming to be the owner of the shop has replaced the locks and is harassing all other family members from the property.

Despite repeated pleas to the UP Police, no FIR has been registered. Instead, the complainant was thrown out of the police station and calls to the helpline have gone unanswered.

This comes after an intimation was given to the Police last night that this might happen.

Mr. Jaiswal’s family resides abroad, leaving him vulnerable with no one to help. There is a clear threat to his life and property.

My letter which has been submitted to police on 24.11.2024 at late night recorded all the facts however, the police has failed to take action.

The apprehensions as mentioned in the letter dated 24.11.2024 have completely become true.

This person is a relative who has a Gun & has been indirectly threatening for a long time. I've recordings of him cornering me & harassing me. He's constantly trying to extort money.

Unfortunately, this comes when I hired him & have given him a stable job for years. He decided to keep my property.

Now I have a real threat of my life and property and with no assistance from the police I am writing this post to bring to the attention of #ministry of corporate affairs #UP CM Office #BJP Sangh.

It's a cry for help! If there's someone honest & wants to help. I've all the documentation / rights / proof of no wrong doing. Instead, I'm being harassed & the SHO of Sigra police station, Varanasi seems to take no action.

The new rule for disallowing expenditures 43 B(h) which are supplied or procured from MSME and are not paid within the time limit should be reviewed & relaxed by

1) Extend Time from 45 days to 90 days
2) Allow buyers to make payments till filing of ITRs else
3) Deffer provision to next year

Businesses (few) have started restructuring vendors to avoid disallowance under 43 B(h)
