@eatonphil Also, on the storage side of things, I assume the file system will have to maintain redundant copies of each block (otherwise availability will be reduced compared to a single node). This will result in writes amplification, which translate into high network bandwidth for writes.
@eatonphil This way you are only scaling the storage, but you are not scaling any compute or memory. Even if the compute is not a concern, more memory might be needed to accommodate for bigger buffer pool.
On Israel. I I recall the early days of Russiaโs full-scale war on Ukraine. This was the worst tragedy, with many people killed. It was critical not to feel alone. Feeling supported can help you save your country, people, and life.
This is why I urge all leaders to visit Israel and show their support for the people. Iโm not talking about any institutions, but about support for the people who suffered from terrorist attacks and are dying today.
I'm not sure how I am going to explain any of this to my son one day.
The hardest thing will be to explain the silence from many people. We live in a strange time where speaking up, even against clear horror and terror seems hard for many wonderful people.

@ifesdjeen@vicozoh Rust is definitely a good choice for a modern database implementation. But from my limited experience with rust, anything that requires modeling non-trivial data structures is very hard to express, so might be not the best language for teaching.
@rakyll I recently had an Uber driver who was saying how terrified they were of self-driving cars in SF. My instant thought was that an average human driver in SF is so much worse than a self-driving car, and also how much every accident involving a self-driving car is scrutinized.
@0xfourzerofour@adibhanna 100%! I wish I had gone with a wired version. I fell for the ZMK firmware, but there are so many connectivity issues that come with that.
@kinesisergo@adibhanna I started experiencing similar issue since the upgrade to the V3 firmware. I used wired connection, but the halves keep having issues establishing connection with each other.
@DrawsMiguel Sounds like this https://t.co/85pBTjOiot (Project Oberon: The Design of an Operating System, a Compiler, and a Computer โ written by the designers, Niklaus Wirth and Jรผrg Gutknecht. )
@heavyredaction@IanColdwater Ahahaha, so, extra 2 hours of sitting while commuting is somehow fine. What if some people replaced those 2 hours with some extra physical activity.
