@IanWenik Was hoping Penn could add a solid player through the portal (perhaps another scorer to replace Roberts). But the rotation still looks promising for next season!
@sidrosenberg19@Mets Between 2020 and 2025, the only year the Mets had a Jewish night was 2023. Your insinuation is therefore misguided. You are entitled to your opinion about whether the Mets should have a Jewish night…but first get your facts straight. @Mets@StevenACohen2
@Joelmpetlin@Mets Between 2020 and 2025, the only year the Mets had a Jewish night was 2023. Your insinuation that this relates to Mamdani is therefore factually incorrect. You are entitled to your opinion about whether the Mets should have a Jewish night…but first get your facts straight.
@IanWenik It was a fun run for the Quakers, and losing to IL with an ill Power was no shame. I count at least 7 quality returning players + 2 incoming 3-star freshmen. Could be even better next year.
@johnsaponaro@ernestdove Who will Baty replace for D? I don’t see the Mets regularly pulling Bichette (their 3 hitter) off 3B for D, Semien is superior to Baty defensively at 2B, and Benge to Baty likely in RF.
@johnsaponaro@ernestdove I’ll be surprised if that’s the case. Baty was better than Vientos last year and also has the platoon advantage. Vientos will prob DH against LHP and perhaps some RHP when Baty is playing somewhere in the field. Polanco will also take some DH ABs.
@johnsaponaro@ernestdove With a 4 man bench, if Tauchman gets the last bench spot do the Mets go without a true backup SS (Bichette or Semien back up Lindor)? Torres, Vientos, Taylor, Tauchman (assuming Benge in RF and Baty at DH)?
@AnthonyDiComo ChatGPT’s answer: A player placed on the IL just before the end of the season can be activated for the Wild Card Series if he recovers, because postseason roster rules don’t enforce the regular-season IL minimum. The team just needs to include him on its 26-man Wild Card roster.
@AnthonyDiComo@AnthonyDiComo What the rules are for a player placed on IL at the end of the regular season? If the Mets make the playoffs and Baty has a miraculously quick recovery, could they activate him for the WC series (or is it minimum 10 days, so earliest would be DS)?
@ernestdove Actually slight correction: there is a 2028 club option for $17.25M which would bring the 3 year guarantee to $44.25M. Still, Diaz can guarantee himself comfortably more than that as a FA.
@ernestdove Diaz’ contract was front loaded, so if he doesn’t opt out he can only get a max of $28M over 2026-27. Do you think Diaz could earn more than $28M/2 as a free agent? That’s your answer.
