@FlorgyMcFly @normposter While I fully agree that the numbers are bad for Gears, Palworld is an anomaly and a bad comparison. It’s easily among the top list of games to have the highest concurrent player count on Steam.
A different AAA game that did ok to good is a better comparison.

@uncle_deluge I think Vanguard was the first Call of Duty game to not use historical factions for the multiplayer teams names. Instead of Germany vs Britain or whatever, it’s “My team” and “Enemy team”.

every time this conservative talking point gets brought up, I think of a new way it doesn't really work. here's another: obviously no black people in america give a shit about the founding ideals. in fact, they define their identity in such exclusive racial terms that treating black americans as generically american is seen as a racist slight. they just aren't civic nationalists at all. but not only don't conservatives call for them to be removed en masse over this ideological non-conformity, they will actually contradict themselves and bring up their deep history in the country to defend their place in america.
