Writer-Director Mr. Babak Lotfi Khajepasha’s “In the Arms of the Tree” premiered in February 2023 at the 41st Fajr International Film Festival. It was selected as Iran’s official submission for Best International Feature Film at the 97th Academy Awards but was not nominated. I was happy to meet Mr. Khajepasha in Tehran, Iran, and have a brief yet insightful conversation about his creative vision and the deeper narratives shaping his work.
