It's a three-part plan, really:
1. Throw war dissenters into prison;
2. Write a Supreme Court opinion affirming the conviction, with a pithy statement, something about "shouting fire in a crowded theater";
3. Let everyone remember point #2 for over 100 years because nobody knows how to think critically about what they are saying.
@HazzardCoEng@dccommonsense In oral arguments, Justice Gorsuch directly asked the SG if a future POTUS could use this precedent to unilaterally declare a “climate emergency” and impose a 50% tariff on gas-powered cars. The SG said "that would be very likely"
So yes, this was a victory against exactly that.
