@timotheeology St. John Chrysostom's homilies in marriage and family are essential reading to understand the patriarchy and St. Paul's theology in Ephesians.
I concur with you Timothy, Matt Fradd and the rest like him are essentially Christian feminists
Reminder that when peaceful ol' St. Francis was in Egypt in October during the 5th Crusade on a peace mission to the Muslim sultan, he challenged him and his imams to undertake a trial by fire with him, which they all refused.
When Yahweh restores Zion, He promises to delete her shameful memory: “the shame of your youth you will forget” and “the reproach of your widowhood you will not remember.”
She was shamed by her early infidelities, she was reproached because of her Husband’s departure/death. Both of these she will forget.
The waters that Yahweh promises (55:1) might as well be from the river of Lethe. In the joy of reunion with her Husband, Zion forgets all prior shame and pain of her adulteries and her abandonment.
In the last couple of days, Muslims:
1. Slaughtered 9 Christians in Jordan
2. Beheaded 40+ Christians in Nigeria
3. Massacred 60+ Christians in Ethiopia
4. Raped countless Christian girls in Europe
We cannot coexist with people whose religious scriptures call for our deaths.
Diseased and wounded Zion (Isaiah 1:5-6) finally the makeover she has wanted (Isaiah 54:11-12).
She is a bride, adorned with jewels, a city whose foundations, gates, and border fences sparkle.
She's dressed as a priest, gem stones on her breastplate, adorned like the firmament, a foundation of sapphire (cf. Exod 24:10) and a “sun” (shemesh) like agate.
It's a major black mark on the Catholic Church that we've allowed Fernando III of Castile and Leon (1199-1252) to be almost forgotten. He's one of the greatest men ever to pick up a sword—and a canonized saint.
Fernando never lost a battle. He took back more territory from the Moors than any other Spanish king during the Reconquista: Cazorla, Úbeda, Córdoba, Niebla, Huelva, Écija, Lucena, Oriheula, Murcia, Arjona, Mula, Lorca, Cartesian, Jaén, Alicante, and then Sevilla. Along the way he reclaimed the Bells of Santiago de Compostela taken by al-Mansur a couple centuries before. In battle he always took the lead, declaring he'd never expose his vassals to more danger than he exposed himself.
By the end of his campaigning only Granada remained, and they were paying tribute to Fernando. El Santo planned an expedition to North Africa to finish the job completely, but died before he could launch it.
And, like I said, he is a saint, known during his lifetime, as El Santo. Fernando often worried his men with his habit of keeping all-night prayer vigils before a battle. His efforts liberated countless Christians from Moorish and rescued souls from apostasy.
On top of all this, he was a great lawgiver, patriarch, and friend—really the complete man, not the kind you allow to be forgotten.
Art by Antonio Palomino—
St. Paul explicitly says, Not all who are descended from Israel are Israel (Romans 9:6), and that the children of the promise, not merely the flesh, are counted as God's children (9:8).
He then says unbelieving branches were broken off because of unbelief (11:20) and can be grafted back in if they cease in unbelief (11:23).
God's promises are irrevocable. That doesn't mean unbelieving national or ethnic Israel inherits them apart from Christ.
And why should anyone take your interpretation as authoritative? You're a self appointed teacher declaring your assertions “plain sense” while ignoring St. Paul's actual message
I have three separate hobbies:
1. Reading books.
2. Buying books I’ll probably read someday.
3. Wandering around bookstores and libraries just to admire all the books.
Orthodox: Show me the Pope acting alone.
Catholic: What do you mean by “acting alone”?
Orthodox: I mean what Vatican I dogmatized.
Catholic: Did Vatican I dogmatize a Pope who acts in opposition to the bishops and the Church?
Orthodox: Yes. Show me that.
Catholic: That is not what Vatican I defined.
Orthodox: Then you cannot prove Vatican I.
Catholic: I cannot prove your misreading of Vatican I. The Popes did not act alone in the sense of acting against the bishops.
Orthodox: So you have no examples?
Catholic: If I produced an example of the Pope acting in opposition to the Church and prevailing, that would falsify the doctrine rather than prove it. Vatican I teaches that the head and the members cannot be separated in the faith.
Orthodox: Then you cannot show it. That ends the argument.
Catholic: After the Lateran Synod of 649, Pope Martin sent an encyclical to the whole Church binding it to the dyothelite faith.
Orthodox: But the East did not accept it, so it does not count.
Catholic: The Formula of Hormisdas bound the East a century earlier.
Orthodox: The East accepted it, and that is when it became binding.
Catholic: Those are precisely the kinds of acts Vatican I had in view. On your reading, every historical example is either “the Pope did not act alone” or “it only became binding when the bishops accepted it.” The standard is constructed so that no evidence can ever satisfy it.
Orthodox: Debate Jay Dyer.
We’ve reached a place where the King of Jordan shows more genuine solidarity with and concern for the Christians of his country than the President of France shows for his.
"Where am I, and what is the time?" he said aloud to the ceiling.
"In the House of Elrond, and it is ten o'clock in the morning." said a voice. "It is the morning of October the twenty-fourth, if you want to know."

An analogy of the Hypostatic Union of the Christ with iron & fire.
It’s an intellectually illuminating analogy, it’s an illustration of union without confusion or the destruction of either nature. It echos the burning bush, which burned totally and yet was not consumed by the fire. In this bush the Son of God prefigured His future incarnation & appeared to St. Moses the Prophet (Exodus 3:2).
Just as iron placed in fire becomes red-hot, luminous, and capable of burning, without the iron ceasing to be iron or the fire ceasing to be fire, so the iron retains its own nature while being thoroughly permeated by the fire. The iron does not become fire by nature, nor does the fire become iron; rather, each retains its distinct properties while being united together. The iron can be touched and handled, yet it carries the heat and brightness of the fire, which are communicated to it through their union.
So through the assumed humanity, Christ united to His divinity without ceasing to be human, nor without ceasing to be divine. The two natures remain distinct, yet united in the one person of Jesus Christ, who is fully God by nature & man by nature.
