🚧 DA-run Cape Town teams are working around the clock to respond to flooding caused by heavy weekend rains. In just 24 hours, MMC Rob Quintas was on site, drains were cleared and streets were restored. Even in extreme weather, the City acts in record time to restore infrastructure.
That is the DA difference!
Being a party for all really enrages the DA’s opponents, who want a country where governments exist for their in-group only.
So the DA is simultaneously accused of ignoring the needs of poor black people and privileging rich white people, and of robbing rich white people blind and spending the money on poor black people.
In reality of course the DA governs for everyone. Yes, people who need more support from the state get more, as the billions being spent on transport and sewerage upgrading on the Cape Flats attests; but people who are well off are not neglected, as a short drive through Cape Town’s well-maintained Southern Suburbs will attest.
And isn’t that the sort of country you really want to live in?

Tonight, together with Marvin from the Office of the Mayor, we officially handed over a cheque of R165 000 to Collegians Rugby Football Club.
This funding from the Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis will go towards upgrading the club’s facility.
🇿🇦👏 The South African Property Owners’ Association (SAPOA) has awarded the City of Cape Town as “Best Metro”! I’m very grateful for their recognition. Thank you SAPOA!
We are building a City of Hope for all residents, where our investments in basic infrastructure uplift dignity and helps our whole society thrive.
Tonight, I have the privilege of addressing the audience at the launch of the Kapstadt Cup on behalf of the City of Cape Town. This year marks the 15th edition of the tournament, which has impacted many young people across the country and has become a platform for greatness.

🚨 Gayton McKenzie's defunding of iconic cultural festivals is a disaster and kills jobs!
These include events like the Cape Town International Jazz Festival, the National Arts Festival, the Suidoosterfees, the KKNK, the Woordfees, Innibos, Aardklop and the Vrystaat Kunstefees.
💙🚨 ENOUGH IS ENOUGH 🚨💙
Over the past few months, the Cape Flats has been burning under the scourge of gang violence. Families are grieving, communities are living in fear, and SAPS has shown it is unable to protect our people.
It’s becoming increasingly irrational to resist our request for additional policing powers to be devolved in Cape Town.
Just read this in the ST today. Police officers in gang units with no weapons, no bulletproof vests, a handful of working vehicles, no spare tyres for the vehicles they have!
‼️ While the DA may lead the City of Cape Town and the Western Cape, these two spheres of government have NO control over SAPS in the Province.
Policing is a National Government competency and SAPS has been run by the ANC for the past 31 years.
Cape Town mayor @geordinhl held a media briefing in Hanover Park to highlight the justice system’s poor conviction rate related to illegal guns. The mayor also responded to questions about gang violence in the province being mentioned in the Oval Office last night.
