Takeaways from the #Broncos' Week 1 win:
• Vance Joseph and the defense deserve ALL of the flowers. They were as dominant as we thought they'd be. I've been super critical of VJ in the past. Not today. Fantastic performance. 10/10, no notes.
• Bo Nix and the passing offense deserve NONE of the flowers. This was an exploitable Titans D, and they were far from exploited. Three turnovers? 6-for-15 on third down? 1-of-3 in the red zone? Unacceptable against this caliber of opponent.
• Sean Payton has seen finer days as the team's offensive czar — and especially as the play-caller. Something I've noticed about Payton is he has a tendency to outsmart himself. That was on display again. Run. The. Damn. Ball.
• It was nice to watch the Broncos' rushing attack start to build momentum in the second half. Harvey and Dobbins can be their version of Gibbs and Montgomery. An excellent complement when used correctly. Again, RUN THE DAMN BALL.
• Speaking of RBs, I never thought I'd remark to myself that I miss Jaleel McLaughlin. But here we are. No real shade to Tyler Badie; McLaughlin simply has better chemistry with Bo. Hopefully he's active in Week 2.
• A quick shout-out to Riley Moss and Ja'Quan McMillian. Many wrote them off after the Broncos drafted Jahdae Barron — and they've responded in kind. Terrific players whom Denver is lucky to have.
• Patrick Surtain, Nik Bonitto, and Zach Allen deserve EVERY penny they're getting. And in Bonitto's case, we can stop wondering whether he was a one-year wonder. Haven't seen this special of a talent since Von.
• A win's a win's a win, and good teams find a way to beat bad teams. However, some of what we witnessed was downright inexcusable, and there's A LOT of room for improvement. Both things can be — and are — true.
• On that same token, though, let's not galaxy-brain ourselves over an eight-point victory. If THIS is the worst Denver looks (at least offensively), they're going to be just fine.
• The Broncos are still winning 11+ games this season.
NEWS: #Broncos quarterback Bo Nix says that he plans on being the number one player in the league.
👀
Nix was number 64 on the #NFL’s top 100 players list as a rookie.
“I want to continue to get higher. I’m not going to stop until I at least give it my best try.”
The Broncos’ win total was set at 5.5.
PFF said they had the worst roster in the NFL.
ESPN said they had the second-worst roster in the NFL.
They clinched a playoff spot and are 10-7.
The #Broncos having so many jersey options now is costing me a lot of money. I have to wear whatever they’re wearing. Can’t just rely on wearing the orange since all colors are home options now. Anyone else like this? 😅
