Congratulations to @unm_saap faculty member Nora Wendl for being named Executive Editor of JAE: Journal of Architectural Education. https://t.co/05za7a2eCX
@NGirrard I don't see how anyone could look at those 6 examples and still be against social distancing, contact tracing, phone tracing, and biodata monitoring. Those are all examples of far stronger govt regulation than the US- except for SE, which is doing worse than us per capita.
@NGirrard Why single out one country? Because the article you shared did. "This article is about Switzerland and it does not suggest that the situation is exactly the same globally." Why not learn the lessons from that example more fully instead of cherry picking convenient narratives?
@NGirrard @larrybehrens Once an academic, always in the ivory tower. Sigh. That link is super interesting, but consider this piece- it suggests that the tools in question actually worked and is less speculative. https://t.co/Q4dsgMeMWz
@NGirrard @larrybehrens However, the point of my initial post was to describe how we make decisions based off of fear every day. Our entire legal system is, effectively, fear-based.Arguing that the bipartisan response to a deadly virus is both fear-based and dem to me, feels imprecise and misleading.
@NGirrard @larrybehrens FWIW, I have been saying since March that this crisis would pressure america's individualistic culture. Though I don't share your concerns, I am very much aware that the solutions other nations deploy won't sync culturally with much of the US.
