@RFCooke1584@RichRaho A smaller percentage would be kids who were trafficked into the country or came on their own across the border via a coyote for various reasons.
@RFCooke1584@RichRaho In this case it usually means refugee minor children whose parents are missing or have died and they’ve been classified as refugees by the UN. There are a couple of agencies the US gov’t and UN partner with to pair these refugee minors with foster parents in other countries.
@FullAsMuchHeart I really don’t like eating sweet food for breakfast (which cuts out many options) and feel much better if I eat something savory, so I often eat dinner leftovers for breakfast. Different reason, but maybe an option you could try!
@pavawaut@nonregemesse The existence of Amazon does not negate the need for libraries to carry a better selection. Libraries perform a needed service to people who can’t afford Amazon prices.
@pavawaut@nonregemesse It’s very difficult to find these old books, especially within library systems. Almost all of the quality books I’ve found for my kids have come from one specific library in our inter library loan system. Very few have the quality options parents are looking for these days.
@emzanotti Thinking it was a backpack I was about to say, “Well at least it’s not a sibling!” but then I decided to zoom in just to make sure. What a good dog 😂
When I didn’t have kids, I had endless time and extra money, and somehow I still did nothing meaningful with either. It’s strange how easy it is to coast when the only person you’re responsible for is yourself. There’s no urgency. No pressure to grow. You can drift for years.
But children change all of this. The choices we make become more important, because it affects them. They force us to think beyond the next five minutes. We suddenly care about becoming someone stronger, more disciplined, harder working, and it’s because someone else is counting on us now.
We all think freedom comes from living for ourselves, but the real push, the real growth, only happens when our lives are tied to someone outside of us.
Kids make us better because they make us accountable. They pull us out of the shallow orbit of our own wants and into something that actually matters.
I'll never forget how liberating it was in 2018 to cut the cord & subscribe to YoutubeTV. They even had the regional sports networks! All for like $39 a month. Finally. The consumer is winning!
Today: It's $82.99. And now there's no ESPN or Disney.
Nothing good ever lasts kids
My kids about “America’s Tenor” singing during the Inauguration: Is he even singing in English? Isn’t the song called Oh America? Why can’t I understand it?
Same kids, same 😂
@zoeyholmstrom These are all SO good, but that picture with Mullings in the middle framed by the other players is really special. Thanks for sharing your talent!
@Andy35o My husband & I made the same calculations after 3 kids & decided we could have one more without having to buy a bigger vehicle & overextend ourselves. God decided 5 was a better number for us & we got the surprise of a lifetime at the ultrasound when the tech said it was twins 😂
@Abbi_727@ask_aubry This information is not new and much has been made of it already by various groups. I discovered it myself when my almost 10 y/o was a toddler. The energy is and has been there for a while. You’re just not looking in the right places. https://t.co/dBipNpEJwq
@courtneyellis The Chronicles of Prydain is excellent! The audiobook is so well done. We listened to it with our 6, 8, and 11 year olds. Another exciting one is Snow Treasure, a historical fiction book about Norwegian kids who help transport the country's gold bullion to safety during WWII.
@BuenoForMiami I often think about this in terms of being a grandparent too. How long do I want to be around my kids and grandkids some day? My grandmother lived until I was 37 and she was able to meet all of her grandkids and most of her great grandkids. It was amazing!
@hillbillythings Then you can see which curriculums fit inside that philosophy & you can research more in depth from there. Most curriculums have “fan pages” on FB where you can join & ask questions. I’ll put my vote in for Heart of Dakota which is Charlotte Mason inspired w/lots of living books!
@hillbillythings There are so many options these days, you’re smart to start sifting and thinking about it now! I would look at the different philosophies of homeschooling and figure out which one suits you and your family (and that may change over the years which is okay too!). 1/2
