Uganda Govt owes medical interns UGX 23bn. Yet by July,l 2026, UGX 189bn will go to MPs' cars & UGX 120bn to ministers' cars. Some political class doesn't use public hospitals; so they don't feel this crisis. My ailing auntie in Kyemamba does. #PayMedicalInterns#InternsNotSlaves
Dr. Frank Asiimwe: Medical Interns are employees and must be paid to do the work. If you don't pay them, you can't control them and you aren't protecting the patients.

🔥 🔥@newvisionwire :Thank you for this headline. However, it would have been better if it stated that Doctors and students reject the new (oppressive) policy!
I can't imagine how much whoeing someone would be going through to make them decide at 25yrs of age that the best family planning method is cutting their tubes or vasectomy at 25yrs!!!
What sexual wars are you planning on fighting??
Can't you use a condom, copper IUD, hormonal IUD, emergency, abstaining, how much horny do are you that you cannot use a condom during unsafe days and have live sex during safe days!
There are so many ways that you can opt not to have children while having sex unless you're getting battle ready.
Society is so dead that when a man marries a woman who is 23yrs, they say he's a sexual predator, going for naive, emotional girls who cannot judge right and wrong, same girl at that age decides to cut her tubes and suddenly now the entire society praises her that she's emotionally mature, she makes perfect decisions... Nonsense y'all.
As a doctor, how much greedy are you to cut tubes of such a girl or boy... No different from those who change sex for children through surgery just because they think they're boys trapped in a girl's body.
People who fear raising children are actually the same who keep claiming that taking care of their parents isn't their responsibility, same people who don't settle in relationships for they fear responsibilities.
They think those who do are ready or prepared or have billions.
Just adults who fear responsibilities.
I have also seen the same people claiming that it's fine to abandon their children and their mothers in villages because they're not ready, not their responsibilities... Giving vague reasons.
Grow up.
@DrSerunjogiEmma Am glad someone is bold enough to state facts out there
People are just broken and broke unresolved trauma either childhood or relationship related
Very suicidal to society and morality when influential people come up speak against having kids and the marriage institution
Dear Ugandans,
As an Assistant lecturer who has trained and continue to train Medical students “your future Doctors.”
It is very important to learn that the world continues to evolve. Gone are the days when age was directly linked to competence.
It has become very unpleasant for some of you to continue disrespecting the very dedicated young professionals by the virtue of their young age.
We understand that in the past generations, Medics were completing their 1st professional training in their 30’s or even 40’s but today, the current generation is completing their first degrees in their early twenty, Specializing before 30 and this is the reason we currently have those completing PhD in their thirties even before 40 years. We have very competent Medics below 30 years and you must trust them.
Kindly stop use of Demeaning words like “Akasawo” “Obusawo” “Ka Nurse” “Ka Doctor” “Ka Nurse Kali kekankozeko” as this may create a toxic environment that may indirectly interfere with their line of duty since they are humans and they get emotional. As we continue to inform & teach the young professionals to have ultimate respect for their patients, the patients MUST equally respect the dignity of the people who give in all they can to save their lives. These are the people who restore your hope, your life when you have given up.
We must get used that in today’s generation, the Medics might look younger than we expect but it doesn’t mean that they are not fit for their Duty.
They have been well trained and they are licensed to do what they know best. They need your trust to perform to their best.
NB: To the young Medics, build that confidence in yourselves, stay professional and prove those who doubt your competences.
Thank you.
Working in Village hospitals, you see 24yr old women with 3 children already, a husband who is a farmer, but in cities, you only see 30+yr olds, either single or hoping between gynecologists wanting to conceive.
If you're a young woman out there, God made 20-29yrs as the most fertile age of a woman, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. This is a fact!
Most 30+yr olds who fail start podcasts to tell you that getting married at 24 is being young, you're being used but out parents started and settled in marriage at 17yrs, 24 is already midway your most fertile age.
A hospital can have modern buildings, shiny equipment, and expensive machines.
But if its staff are exhausted, underpaid, and unsupported, the system will still fail patients.
Healthcare runs on people, not infrastructure.
