Alas, human birth, unfortunate people today victims of "push in" and "push out" in the game of state, borders, politics, and power. Where will they live, which country will take them, where will their home be—the answers are determined not by humanity, but political interests.
National civil socity consultation held in NGO Forum Dhaka organized by GCAP Bangladesh where 45 CSOs participated to draft a national position paper for Promoting Universal Social Protection to address, inequality, exclusion and climate vulnerability in Bangladesh.
I spoke yesterday at @OECD#FDC2026 and I would like to share here five reflections I rose in the panel and in my conversations these two days.
1. Was shocked how everyone mentioned the context...but no one identified #Inequality as key element of it. This deserves a reflection.
2. I heard everywhere 'mutual interest' but this cannot be a rehash to reinforce power hirarchies.
3. Conversations were about economic growth, investment...again very few mentions to human rights, human development, etc. Worrying trend that needs to be considered in the ongoing reforms.
4. In a time of 'leveraging private finance' we need to come back to local led development.
5. In Oxfam we are in a continuous process of reflection based on our feminist and decolonial principles.
Lastly, extremely relevant reflection by @Eva_Granados on the governance of aid and the need to have Global South countries in it.
Thanking the OECD for this conference and looking forward to the forthcoming work on poverty and inequality.
Support and soliderity with working class movement for fair wages, better conditions, social protection and dignity. Long live workers unity.

Why civic space and women’s participation are inseparable
“The link between democracy and gender justice is structural. You cannot advance gender justice where civic space is restricted,” argues Martina Kabisama, Co-Facilitator of the Women and Feminists Constituency Group of GCAP.
In an article published as part of the March With Us Campaign of the Forus International, she underlines, “women’s political participation does not begin at the ballot box. It begins with safety, economic security, and the ability to organize.”
