Alliance of White Anti-Racists Everywhere – Los Angeles (AWARE-LA). Creating a new culture of white anti-racism through education, community building & support.
Police are not social workers, mental health providers, drug rehabilitation counselors, or EMTs. Let's not pretend that they are. Fund services, not police. ADOPT THE PEOPLE'S BUDGET.

#GeorgeFloyd may have been killed by 4 Minneapolis cops, but all those who protect, advance, and fund the White-supremacist system of brutal, abusive, corrupt and murderous policing have blood on their hands.

@dashthebook Hi Greg! We do not, but we are part of a nationwide network called @ShowUp4RJ, and there is a chapter in Chicago @SURJchicago. We also have dialogues on Zoom for ppl who want to interrogate their relationship to whiteness. Message us for info!
I am White. I have studied racism for over 2 decades. I still can't claim to fully understand its impacts. If you are White, you have a lot to learn about racism, even if your spouse/children are non-White, even if you have read several books, even if your best friend is Black.
Breaking: We've filed a lawsuit against @LASDHQ for not making available records relating to police misconduct & use-of-force. https://t.co/iQhuri0i4q
in a shocking turn of events, the exact fucking thing the native people of the region said would happen if the pipeline was built just fucking happened
Can’t wait to moderate this important discussion of white privilege with @chelseahandler, @DocMellyMel, & Dahlia Felito on October 30th at 7pm at @picounionproj in downtown L.A. All proceeds go to @BLMLA.
The local jail should not be the largest mental health care provider in your area. We cannot keep investing in incarceration as a means of dealing with social problems it only exacerbates.
The impact of police deadly force is widespread, particularly for Black & Latinx people. Of the 102 police killings in CA in 2019 (so far), over half took place in SoCal. We deserve protections from racist policing & unlawful use-of-force. #NationalDayAgainstPoliceBrutality
Henrietta Wood was a free Black woman who was kidnapped and sold back into slavery. She sued her captor after the Civil War, and was awarded the largest known sum of restitution for enslavement by a U.S. court.

An LAPD plain-clothes cop killed a Black man yesterday. In an effort to justify it, they released a video of the victim stealing at a completely different time and named him a suspect in another crime.
Those who commit criminal acts are due a day in court, not murder by police.

Police Commission President Eileen Decker keeps shushing the public, calling us “ladies and gentlemen.” When folks yell back “and gender-nonconforming people,” we’re told that we’re disrupting and threatened with clearing the room. @stoplapdspying@LACANetwork
Black people can’t call the police, they can’t call a non-emergency line, they can’t call for help and feel safe without being killed. We have failed people of color in this country in the past and we continue to do it into the present. We have to change. #AtatianaJefferson
