TOMMY TUBERVILLE WARNS THAT “MANY” PILOTS, FLIGHT ATTENDANTS AND AIR TRAFFIC CONTROLLERS ARE FURRIES: “Lord help us. It’s terrifying when you think about this.”
Tuberville claimed on the Senate floor that airline workers being part of the furry community poses a danger to passengers, saying a pilot “could have a deranged fetish of dressing up like an animal.”
I love how Mike Lee is essentially completely insane except when it comes to permitting laws and stuff like the Jones Act where he turns into the Most Reasonable Man Alive
This is incredibly important. Politicians too often speak out of both sides of their mouths when it comes to corporate taxes: they demand firms invest in the "real economy" and then cry foul about full expensing -- the very policy that removes the tax penalty for doing just that.
@carney@ScottJenningsKY No, they both miss the mark. The economic incidences of the CIT and tariffs are very different. Jennings seems to lack that nuance.
For years, this tree in my neighborhood had a Trump sign on it. It got taken down a week ago.

He alleged that new residential development in the city is a net negative from a tax perspective because the new real estate revenue from the development is lower than the marginal infrastructure and service cost. (New commercial development is net positive.)
The best evidence that the fads might be causing this problem is that one of the few countries to escape the general fall in scores is England - also one of the few countries to explicitly reject the fads and take a different approach.
Contrast with Scotland - a similar country which had basically the same PISA scores as England in 2012.
Since then the two countries took very different educational approaches and Scottish students are now about a year behind English ones in maths & science (and behind by a smaller amount in reading).
I wrote about this in 2013, but it's even more stark now.

@GarrettPetersen@jtLOL To lock-in low premiums for them. Indeed, the healthcare market would also work this way if it were a free market. Lock yourself *into* the market before you develop pre-existing conditions and are locked *out* of the market.
