@Fmrico Let's... Not design many frameworks and stick to a couple of good opinionated options? Haha (more than one, competition is good, but not dozens please!)
@facontidavide I so agree. I think, and I actually do like it (while I have a job lol), that roles in engineering will just be more multidisciplinary and more focused on delivery
@facontidavide My code is better than ever, has more thinking cycles, has more implementation cycles & people spend their time in more valuable ways reviewing it focusing on what the code achieves instead of what the code is. I love this. But I guess I never was in the 1st group (I tried!)
@facontidavide@esteve It's so funny how Rviz was the real GOAT for so long, but it got very little love, and now other tools have appeared but still lack great functionality from Rviz (like interactive markers)
@facontidavide I like to think about these and other programming mantras (like about optimization) thinking about iterations. One should be able to iterate incrementally and interpret these "rules" as part of that process. If the rules slow down your iterations unnecessarily, rethink the flow
I gave a lightning talk in #ROSCON 2025 showing a cool shebang trick to use #pixi and Cppyy to run self contained python scripts that call C++ code. Find the examples in that I called Pixibang:
