@PhysicsHawk I think this difference shows us that each person is made a little differently by God. In my case if I read I have to be 100% focused on what I'm reading if I want to retain any of it. It just shows that God has created us all individually so that we're all a little different.
@PhysicsHawk The main thing that made Feynman's test better was that he ran multiple tests with multiple real world variables involved. He was a scientist so he knew how experiments were supposed to go unlike the psychologist who was basically making a guess off of something that happed once.
@PhysicsHawk One of the main things that makes an experiment scientific is that it can be repeated. However this experiment had circumstances that would be extremely hard to repeat. Also there is a very low chance that you would get the same result anyways because of these rare circumstances.
@PhysicsHawk There aren't many lunches that our table doesn't end up arguing over something and we're all pretty stubborn so we don't usually end up changing each others minds but every once an a while we will. Like how Cade convinced me that rock climbers are some of the best athletes.
@kbjunior11@PhysicsHawk Good point Keenan! Math and science make up everything around us even if we aren't thinking about it. But the real question is... "Was math created by humans or was it created by God when he created the earth and we just discovered it??"
@TischerCade@PhysicsHawk I agree Cade. There are a ridiculous amount of random vocabulary words that we never find out what they are actually useful for.
@PhysicsHawk I have experienced this when I took science classes in Elementary and middle school. For Example, we had to learn every state capitol in like 3rd grade. Also when we had to memorize the Gettysburg Address. I memorized the words but they never taught me what they actually meant.
@PhysicsHawk One thing that has always made my head hurt is the vastness of space. It's so hard for me to understand how we can exist in a universe so massive. I remember hearing a bible study about how small our sun is compared to some other suns and it was mind boggling.
@PhysicsHawk Math and science are hidden throughout our daily lives. A lot of kids in school think that most of the math and science things we learn about we will never need to use in our daily lives, but this example shows that it can be useful. Some examples are sports, art and nature.
@PhysicsHawk Trying to figure something out scientifically is very similar to recognizing patterns. Recognizing patterns can help you identify trends which is a part of the way scientists think. For example, a lot of the elements on the periodic table were found through seeing patterns.
@PhysicsHawk Part 2:
Now I'm no NASA engineer so I have no idea how much things need to be tested but I do know that this is why they have protocols when testing. There's a reason why they have decided these protocols and I believe that they should never be skipped for any reason.
@PhysicsHawk Part 1:
I believe that we should aim to be as safe as possible because what good are meeting these goals if it doesn't work in the end. However you can't spend years testing every little thing.
@PhysicsHawk Some things that have felt like the perfect storm in the past have been when I can't get off a shift for work and have a ton of homework with the combination of my lack of good time management causes me to do poorly on a test. However, God always seems to work it out in the end.
@PhysicsZucco@PhysicsHawk Good point PhysicsZucco, it's so easy to forget to test one little thing in a condition that was extremely unlikely in South Florida. However, we saw why it is extremely important that everything is tested in every condition.
@PhysicsHawk One main reason that I think that wasn't considered was because they were launching from Florida. A place that rarely gets below freezing. But also with so many little things to check its easy to miss one and thats why big projects like that are so careful now to check everything
@PhysicsHawk I would say that we tend to live our lives this way because it's a lot easier to do the least amount of work if its worked out for us in the past. I am definitely guilty of doing this. Some examples of me doing this would be eating habits or even school work. #feynmanchat1920
@PhysicsHawk I think that maybe NASA and the rest of the people that worked on the Challenger didn't want their mistakes published for the world to see. I think they were still pretty embarrassed about what had happened and didn't want people to be reminded in his book. #feynmanchat1920
