How could anyone who is sane deny that it is a mental disorder. I survived years of unremitting and extreme depression caused by a brain infection, but I would be an idiot to deny that depression is a mental disorder. Unfortunately, a very high percentage of people are outright stupid.

It is not a case of neglect. It's far more culpable than neglect. NHJ knew the outcome when she sent her daughter to that school. NHJ kept her daughter in that school because it resulted in accolades for NHJ. Here are some excerpts from the article:

I could feel her looking at me. Her body slung in adolescent impertinence against the front passenger seat door, shoulders turned so she could face me fully. Usually when I picked up my daughter, Najya, from middle school, she’d tumble into the car and bombard me with the day’s escapades, chattering nonstop about her friend group or complaints about an annoying teacher or her wonder at the test she’d aced despite thinking she’d failed it. But not this day.
“Did you know my school was bad like this when you decided to put me here?” she asked.

I had braced myself for this moment, spent nearly a decade expecting it, preparing for it. When Najya was entering pre-K, my husband, Faraji, and I decided to send her to the type of school that wealthier families with choices uniformly avoid — one that is low-income and mostly Black.

In 2016, I wrote an essay in this magazine called “ Choosing a School for My Daughter in a Segregated City
,” about our experience in a system in which educational inequality was widely accepted. Our daughter, then a kindergartner with Afro puffs, a plaid school uniform and Jordan-clad feet, appeared on the cover.

The piece struck a chord in a way I could not have predicted. [That is a bald-faced lie]. Readers flooded my inbox and posted hundreds of comments. Producers invited me for interviews, book publishers came calling and I was asked to speak all over the country by communities and institutions grappling with the issue of school segregation. The essay spurred community meetings in places near and far; and in New York City, it helped ignite parent and student activism around a subject that had largely disappeared from public discourse. Even a decade later, parents still share with me how my essay led them to make similar educational decisions for their children. [No apologies to all the other students whose educations she helped destroy].

In the outside world, my choice had earned me valor. And yet that day, under the withering glare of my daughter, the words that I was formulating sounded hollow to my ears even before they passed my lips.

Your school is not bad,” I told her, modulating my voice. “What are you talking about?”

Najya grew agitated. “You know what I am talking about. We looked up our school! We saw the test scores. We saw the ratings.” She ticked off the school’s below-state average reading and math scores, and that it ranked poorly on a popular school­ rating website. I said I was aware of her school’s academic rankings, but that test scores alone do not define a school.

But my child just shook her head, her face a mask of disbelief, and something else: betrayal.

“So you had money to send me to one of the best schools, and you chose not to?” she said, hurling her words. “Because other kids are disadvantaged, you didn’t want to put me in a great school?”

Najya was asking what I’d accomplished by not choosing the “best” school for her. And the honest answer is, I don’t know. [NHJ knows what she "accomplished": a crappy education for her daughter and many other black students]. When it comes to the choices my husband and I have made about public education, these days I feel that I failed both my values and my child. [She attained her valuues. She is only reassessing them with regard to her own daughter. But I doubt she is reassessing them when ir comes to other students. And she is still a racist].

Toward the end of first grade, Najya started sometimes saying she didn’t like her school and complaining how chaotic it was at lunch. I decided to visit during the lunch period and was shocked by what I saw.

Since education supposedly promotes white supremacy, this primitive idealogical indoctrination, which is supposed to be "educational," promotes white supremacy by its own definition. It also promotes white supremacy by encouraging black students to be uneducated.

The responses in favor of this indoctrination are typical ad hominem attacks that do not even meet the rules of simple logic.

But I forgot, logic is a form of white supremacy.

I believe he thinks that if black culture among the majority of black people changed, things would be different. For instance, about 70 percent of black babies are born to single mothers, compared to 30 percent of white babies. In black ghettoes, the figure is probably 90 percent, with almost no positive, adult, black male role models present. This is the single most important variable in determining whether young men will become criminals. White people can't cause black students believe that academic achievement is not the equivalent of acting white. When radical black separatism replaced the civil rights agenda in the late sixties, the situation was bound to deteriorate in this manner. "Progressives" these days sound no different than Louis Farrakhan. But McWhorter feels that white and black people should not promote this sort of racism that regards black students so incapable of becoming educated that they have as little chance of passing a Regent's Exam as a fish has of climbing a tree.

He admitted that he had reasonable doubt but he refused to vote as the law in Nevada obligated him to vote.

Rhode Island follows the Model Penal Code (MPC) test for the insanity defense, meaning a defendant is not criminally responsible if, at the time of the criminal conduct, a mental disease or defect caused the defendant to lack substantial capacity to appreciate the criminality of the conduct or to conform conduct to the requirements of the law.

People like this juror make a travesty of the law.
