Mo'Nique won an Oscar, and Netflix offered her $500,000 for a stand-up special. Amy Schumer got $11 million for the same thing.
When she asked why, Netflix told her, "We don't go off of resumes."
In the video below, she tells the whole conversation herself.
Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle got $20 million a special, she says. Schumer went back and got $2 million more. Mo'Nique had won the Oscar in 2010 for Precious, a role she says paid her $50,000.
Netflix's explanation, in her words: Schumer had sold out Madison Square Garden twice and had a big movie that summer. And by the way, "we believe Mo'Nique is a legend too."
She asked her fans to cancel Netflix in January 2018. Most of the internet laughed.
Netflix said its opening offer was fair. In 2019 she sued for race and gender discrimination. A federal judge let the case go ahead, and it settled in 2022.
In April 2023, Netflix released her special, My Name Is Mo'Nique. Five years after "we don't go off of resumes."
Was Mo'Nique worth more than $500,000, or was Netflix paying for ticket sales, not trophies?
Every day: a famous name, the real offer, and who got paid more.
I need you to accept that this is never, ever going to stop. The mass panic is over. Everyone knows trans women exist now, and well-adjusted people do not care. Your bigotry will age like all other bigotry. Your children already find it mortifying.
all jubilee does is platform right wingers and right wing rhetoric under the guise of a debate. yall need to realise that only thing these videos will provide you with is a reason to get pissed off. there is no discourse taking place. stop watching and posting them.
The biggest bioessentialist lie in history is that men operate on logic while women operate on emotions. The fact that this sexist brainwashing still works in the 21st century is laughable. Honestly, weโre doomed if people still mistake stereotypes for facts.
