@holland_tom seems to be channeling his inner @johnlennon in his book ‘Dominion’. “His foes might dismiss Winstanley as a dreamer; but he was not the only one. … that others some day would join the Diggers, and the world would be as one.” P. 350 pb edition.

Page 94 the @PrivateEyeNews podcast is becoming essential listening, not least for the lucid analysis from @helenlewis of the esoteric American political system and in particular its lack of opposition leaders. Put her on the BBC for next year’s mid-terms, I say.
@dcsandbrook@TheRestHistory@TheRestHistory Just caught up with your superb book club. I listened to 3 episodes back-to-back. @dcsandbrook and Tabitha Syrett make a great double act: chatty and insightful. Must read The Handmaid’s Tale. My suggestion for a book would be Thomas Mann’s The Magic Mountain.
@thetimes Presumably, this fellow is arguing for the demolition of just the cultural element and not the whole lot? Even so, a dumb idea. The complex is remarkable for its concept and extraordinary detailing.

Dear Labour Government,
Please rethink the nation’s relationship to the arts. Basically, stop thinking of them as a luxury. They’re not. The arts are a central part of what makes us human: a priority; our song to the heavens. All societies are judged by the art they leave behind.
@simon_schama Totally agree - a bloody stupid question. If you were a teenager in the 1960’s you loved them both, and all the other great bands we were privileged to hear: The Kinks, The Hollies, The Who, and many others.
@C20Society I was very privileged to do my year out with Konrad and Florian 1973-4 in Camden when this house was on the drawing board. Both of them were innovative and original designers and they deserve wider recognition. Well done to @C20Society for publishing this house.
