I read Debt: a 5,000 Year History a while ago. Truly excellent, thought-provoking, world-expanding book. And delightful. I highly recommend it. It was great as an audio book as well. https://t.co/KnTbJVF6lD
For anyone who has been taking COVID precautions the entire four years, I see you and I’m so proud of you! I know how exhausting it can be, having to constantly make sure you and those around you are safe. You’re part of something so much bigger. You’re part of community care!
“Nearly 40 states are reporting high COVID activity levels, according to data from the CDC, & emergency room visits are at their highest for the virus since February.” https://t.co/CVRQMT8mk7
@1goodtern That Long Covid exists. Is common. That they have certainly seen Long Covid, multiple times, whether they've recognized it or not. That it is relevant to literally whatever their specialty.
That'd be a great start and is the baseline without which it's hard to make progress.
I'll never understand how people would rather be sick all the time or risk serious illness than just wear a fucking mask and avoid large crowds. Is a false reality really that important? If you're not masking, ask yourself why.
@DaniBeckman As an ex-clinical virologist myself, this is one of the main things I try to make people understand.
Most are intellectually stuck at “it’s just a really bad cold and as long as I am relatively healthy, I will be ok.”
I show them this…
"Caused by: https://t.co/qoH6p75J6q.ns.NetException: Unknown host specified"
I'm trying to have empathy for whoever wrote this code.
But.
Why not include *what host it was that was unknown* in the exception message?
Be easy on yourself. You’re living through a global pandemic, climate crises, genocide, economic collapse, and so much more. Of course you’re struggling. Don’t beat yourself up if you can’t answer 50 emails today. Life is hard enough!
