Cause Linus literally designed git for Linux Kernel.

So it makes sense every computer is a full fledged repo which needs every bit of code otherwise how else would you PROGRAM A LINUX KERNAL!

It’s clearly push request.

History of versioning that I know from my job

- till late 2000s we had CVS
- SVN came in as hot tech in mid 2000s
- GIT became pervasive in 2010s

I still prefer SVN over GIT.
