My favorite thing about Obsession is definitely breaking the YouTube barrier,if you actually observe almost everything is shot from a tripod with very minimal movement, which is something I personally enjoy. It makes you sit in the room with them instead of watching from outside
And the editing done by Curry barker (who is the director as well) was so beautiful. It breaks norms of invisible continuity editing and embrace on compositions that show the production design, allowing moments to breathe without excessive coverage. He’s done a great job
And from the aspect ratio of 1.50:1 to the lighting on each shot. With back lit and shooting from shadow side. The lighting of props to the people, it is so youtubey. Yes it is an indie film but it definitely has visual language of a high end YouTube film than traditional cinema
Even when I like someone, I’m scared to make the first move. Not because of rejection, but because so many people are still healing from their past, stuck on someone else, caught in situationships, or simply unable to commit.
