Over 10 years ago, when @Robert_O_Simons and I developed Kaidro, the core always revolved around the Spark Suits and the pilots (in the case of the comic, it’s Ava and team. In the case of the game, it’s the clans). Robert and I have developed many IPs and stories that we adore, but then along came Kaidro. We both had that lightning spark when we talked about what the Kaidro world and story could be. That’s when we knew that this IP would be the one that we could dedicate ourselves to bringing to life in all its various forms.

The earliest development included games, animations, comics, toys, and more. We believed that no matter what the medium, if we built the world out well, then fans would be able to let their imaginations run wild just as much as ours did. The reason why Kaidro is where it is today with the lore and universe is because we couldn’t help ourselves from asking all the questions about this world. What are the resources? Who’s in power? What are the political and geological issues in this world? Who is this person? Why are they the way they are? It’s endless, and I love it. When supporters and fans ask questions about the world, it lights me up to be able to finally share the answers that have been living in our heads or notes for years.

Publishing the Kaidro books physically and digitally was a massive milestone for Kaidro. We always wanted a way for people to get involved and to read, for free, if they so choose. We believe that Kaidro should be accessible to those who want to learn about it. It is an honor and a compliment to us if people want to learn about the world. We had many people tell us that they’re hardcore readers for online comics as well as those who let us know it was their first time reading an online comic and they loved it. We developed the comics in a way that if people wanted to support more, they could buy the physical books and merchandise.

This same methodology is true for how we see the NFT collection. If people want to be involved with Kaidro on the web 3 side, they can do so by obtaining their free NFT of the Journals. The journals were a free mint and still are on our Kaidro website (the journal mint is live again on https://t.co/gtTsn22zXk). Then comes the NFT Spark Suit mint, which allows for those who want to support Kaidro another step. Similar to the free online comic readers to the purchasers of the physical books from our original Kickstarter campaigns. The Spark Suits, as we see it, are like a premium battle pass into the Kaidro IP. It opens up another avenue for supporters to follow along in the journey of Kaidro and its expansive universe. Yesterday was an amazing day for @kaidrochronicle and, broadly speaking, the @Ronin_Network and Kaidro community.

Two weeks ago, I made a post about how we got here, but we had not yet conducted the mint. Yesterday surpassed my wildest dreams. We knew we had a bunch of whitelist spots ready for minting, and for two hours, the mint went very well and was stable. However, as we approached the public phase, we still had around 2,400 NFTs sitting around.

From my perspective as a creator of the project, I always had high hopes and dreamed the project would do well. Seeing that many NFTs sitting around, and knowing that the public phase is where many projects suffer and die, I was on high alert. But what happened next caught me completely off guard.

As the time flipped from 7:59 to 8:00 AM PST, @pegchung was closely watching the mint timer, while I was communicating with a couple of our partners. The moment the minute flipped, we saw the percentage go from 75% sold out to 85% sold out. Peggy started shouting at me to look. In the time it took me to turn my head and look, it went from 85% to 91%. I was too dumbfounded to act quickly and just blurted out to Peggy to record this with her phone. In that time, it went from 91% to finished.

We sold out the last bit of 2,400 NFTs in less than 10 seconds. Peggy and I were jaw-dropped. There we were, after 2 years of development on this collection, and it sold out in literally seconds, making 2 million for Kaidro just like that.

I’m extremely honored to be a part of the Ronin community, and to see our traditional web 2 community also turn out for the mint. This is obviously a huge win for us, but this doesn’t go without acknowledging that this is just the first step in many going forward for Kaidro. And I’m humbled to be developing this project with all of you.

So, what do these Spark Suit NFTs do? Well, let's start with the journals first. The journals grant you free access to the broader Kaidro IP; they allow you to access the website and interact with the free quests on the site, with more coming. They help create a level playing field for everyone to engage with the intellectual property and to be entered into raffles for things like the Spark Suit mint.

The Spark Suits grant you premium access to the overall intellectual property. They give you a skin in the game, allow you to raffle your skin into the comic and future animation series, and enable you to interact with more premium quests. In the future, there will be seasonal clan battles on the website. Think of your Spark Suit as a seasonal pass across the entire intellectual property.

The rewards for the holders of the Spark Suits will be significant—more details on this soon. Attached is a video with some alpha on your one-of-a-kind NFT skins in the game. Bonus, you can use just the skin as is In game our you can make your own suit by mixing and matching the parts from your nft’s😉

Lastly, I thought it would be fun to share a little bit of concept art I did for the project. You may not know this, but my original background was as an artist for movies like Transformers, Alita: Battle Angel, Jurassic World, and games like Call of Duty and Apex Legends. This particular suit, which I designed for both the comic and was eventually used in a redesign for the Emerald Hand Clan.
