Bottom line: A democracy can take many forms including the republican form, where we vote for representatives who make the laws, then we vote again. It's still majority rule.

By contrasting Democracy vs. Republic, you incorrectly polarize what is actually a Republic being a subset or kind of Democracy. A Republic is Representative Democracy with a Constitution, no more.
