NEW WEEK, SAME RULE: MANAGE YOUR RISK
A new trading week is here. Before looking for opportunities, make sure you know what you’re willing to risk.
You don’t have to win every trade to become a consistent trader. What matters is managing your risk, protecting your capital, and staying disciplined enough to take the next valid setup.
Before entering a trade, know your risk, your invalidation level, and how much you’re prepared to lose if things don’t go as planned.
Start the week with a clear plan, not the pressure to force a trade. There will always be another opportunity.
What’s one risk management rule you’re sticking to this week?

We’ve also got GDP, Core PCE, consumer confidence, jobless claims and employment-cost data to watch for fresh clues on economic growth, inflation and the outlook for interest rates.
Here are the key releases to keep on your radar this week.

FOMC WEEK IS AHEAD
As we head into next week’s Fed decision, the market could start getting more sensitive to positioning, expectations and every new piece of economic data.
Before jumping into a trade, keep an eye on:
• Treasury yields and the US dollar
• Gold and equity indices
• Liquidity and spreads
• Whether price action backs up the market narrative
You don’t have to predict what the Fed will do. You just need to know what you’ll do if the market moves one way or the other.
Have your scenarios ready, know where your trade idea becomes invalid, and be clear about how much risk you’re willing to take.
What’s your approach this FOMC week? Reducing exposure ahead of the decision or waiting for the market to show its hand?

US wage growth is slowing. Here’s why markets are watching.
Q3 median weekly earnings came in at $1,232, up 1.5% year over year.
With CPI inflation at 3.5%, wage growth is struggling to keep pace with rising prices. Seasonally adjusted median earnings also fell to $1,239 from $1,258 in Q2.
Meanwhile, early market readings show:
DXY: 101.795
US 10Y yield: 5.117%
Gold: $4,145.80
The bigger picture: wage growth is losing ground to inflation, adding another factor for markets to weigh as expectations for the Fed’s next move evolve.

US wage data is in focus today.
Will wage growth pick up or continue to cool?
The answer could influence how markets view inflation and the Fed’s next move.
Stronger wage growth can support consumer spending, but it could also keep inflation concerns alive and rate cuts further out of reach.
The bigger picture matters more than one number.

Are You Trading Your Plan or Your Emotions?
Ever taken a trade that made money but knew you didn’t follow your rules? Or lost a trade even though you did everything right?
It happens. And that’s why trading discipline matters.
Before you enter, know your setup and how much you’re willing to risk.
While you’re in the trade, stick to your plan instead of reacting to every price move.
Once you’re out, take an honest look at what went right or wrong. Don’t judge the decision by the result alone.
In this AXPM ChartLab Weekend Education guide, we share practical prompts to help you stay disciplined and make more deliberate trading decisions.
We’d love to hear from you. What do you struggle with most: waiting for the right entry, sticking to your plan, or accepting a loss? Share your thoughts in the comments.
And don’t forget to save this post so you can revisit it before your next trading session. 🙂

This Week’s Inflation Story: What Import and Export Prices Add
On Wednesday, we looked at what consumers were paying through CPI. Yesterday, PPI showed us the pressure facing producers.
Today, we’re following that story across US borders.
September’s import prices rose 1.1% month on month, while export prices climbed 2.2%. Nonfuel imports also rose 0.7%, so this wasn’t just about energy.
Taken together, this week’s releases leave us with a question: how much of that cost pressure will businesses absorb, and how much will reach consumers?
That matters for interest-rate expectations and for anyone watching gold, the dollar or equities.
After everything we’ve seen this week, has your market outlook changed? Tell us what you’re watching heading into the weekend.
We’ll bring it all together in tonight’s recap.

CPI vs PPI Explainer: What’s the difference, and why should markets care?
CPI shows what people are paying. PPI gives us an early look at the cost pressures building behind the scenes.
In this short explainer, we break down the latest inflation data and what it could mean for rates, the dollar, gold and equity markets.

US PPI came in much hotter than expected.
Producer prices rose 1.3% in September, pushing annual PPI to 6.3%. Even the underlying figure, which excludes food, energy and trade services, climbed to 5% year over year.
Here’s how the markets are reacting so far:
• DXY is slightly higher
• Gold is down
• Oil is up
• S&P 500 futures are down
• The 10 year Treasury yield briefly touched 5.10%
After yesterday’s CPI report, these numbers give the market even more to think about, especially when it comes to the Fed’s next move on interest rates.
The big question is, are we looking at a temporary reaction or the beginning of a bigger market repricing?
The next few sessions could get very interesting.
