"Harry knows what it meant to carry evidence of someone else’s violence across your face. He knows what it means to wake up every morning and see it in a mirror. Now Dracona would have one because of him."
I don't think ive ever seen a story where you switch out one character and suddenly get themes this mind-numbingly poetic and beautiful.
The Last Dream in the Mirror
Mirror Dracaena watched the real Harry and Dracaena disappear through the classroom door, their hands still intertwined.
For a long moment, she said nothing.
Then she looked down at her hand, still holding Mirror Harry’s.
Mirror Dracaena: Maybe we were never real...
She smiled sadly, her eyes glistening.
Mirror Dracaena: But those two will make it real.
Mirror Harry gently squeezed her hand.
Mirror Harry: Then isn't that enough?
Mirror Dracaena: What do you mean?
Mirror Harry: We gave them a place to dream. We showed them what they were too afraid to admit. And now they don't need us anymore.
Dracaena looked toward the empty doorway.
Somewhere beyond the mirror, the real Harry was probably teasing the real Dracaena about how loudly she'd confessed. She would probably threaten to hex him, turn red, and hold his hand even tighter.
She wished she could see it.
Just once.
Mirror Dracaena: I wanted to be her so badly.
Mirror Harry: I know.
Mirror Dracaena: To hear him say he loved me. To walk beside him. To grow old with him. To be the person he came home to.
Her voice trembled.
Mirror Dracaena: Was it selfish to want all that?
Harry turned toward her, taking both her hands in his.
Mirror Harry: No. It was the most human thing in the world.
She finally began to cry.
Mirror Dracaena: But if they have everything we ever wanted... what happens to us?
He looked at her for a long time. Then he smiled, the same gentle smile she had fallen in love with a thousand times.
Mirror Harry: We stay here. Together.
Mirror Dracaena: Forever?
Mirror Harry: Forever.
She rested her forehead against his.
Mirror Dracaena: No matter which side of the mirror we're on, I will always love you.
Mirror Harry: And I will always love you, Dracaena.
They kissed, softly and without hurry, as though the entire world had finally given them one last moment.
Then they held hands, turned around, and began walking.
There was nowhere else to go. No other room, no other world, no future waiting beyond the glass.
But they walked anyway.
Past the reflection of the empty classroom. Past the fading outlines of Hogwarts. Past the last glimpse of the doorway through which their other selves had departed.
They walked as far as the magic mirror could show.
And when the castle finally vanished into the silver distance, Mirror Harry stopped.
Mirror Harry: Dracaena?
Mirror Dracaena: Yes?
Mirror Harry: I'm glad I found you.
She squeezed his hand.
Mirror Dracaena: You never had to find me, silly. I've always been here.
And together, the two reflections disappeared into the endless silver light, still holding hands.
The next morning, the Mirror of Erised stood silently in the abandoned classroom.
For the first time in its existence, it reflected nothing at all.
Because the two people it had spent years dreaming for were finally living their dream.
And the two people left behind had chosen to be happy with each other, even if their happiness existed only in a mirror.
She's just too cute, I couldn't resist teasing her.

In the original setup, Malfoy, Crabbe, and Goyle were busy mocking Ron and Hermione, prompting Harry—hidden under his Invisibility Cloak—to pelt Malfoy's gang with mud until they were completely covered.
But in this alternate universe: Harry spots Lady Malfoy walking out of Hogsmeade, smiling happily to herself. Finding her absolutely adorable, he uses his Invisibility Cloak to sneak up and playfully surprise his crush.

@NWBroJaneway She should *start* cold, aristocratic and malicious. Part of the whole thing that's so great with this character is the growth she'd go through by the end of the story
