@jon_d_doe Agba, Your haters will soon full his CS now 😂😂 na this kin thing them dey like, so that they will put heads together and start saying nonsense.
Your wife will respect you for the things she does for you and the children, not for the money she provides to do those things.
You will love your wife for the things she does with your money, not for the amount of money you provide her.
You can be providing more than enough for your wife, and still despise her.
Because you're not seeing any value for your money.
Your children are nauseating and disrespectful.
To the point that you will start to question the paternity of your own blood children.
You must provide for, & love and sacrifice for the right woman, and you must sacrifice and show respect for the right man.
Marriage is a partnership.
And every man & woman must put their best foot forward.
A man must work hard to find money and provide and lead his family right.
A wife must work hard to support and make sure that the children follow the lead of their father and respect his authority.
Anything short of these is a toxic marriage.
And a failed marriage doesn't necessarily have to be a divorced marriage.
End.
Everything a man and a woman need to build a healthy marriage has already been provided in the Bible. The problem is that many of us know what social media says about marriage better than we know what God says about it.
✔️The Bible teaches us to forgive one another instead of keeping scores and constantly trying to prove who is right. Colossians 3:13-14.
✔️It teaches us to serve one another in love, not to turn marriage into a competition over who is doing more. Galatians 5:13.
✔️It teaches us to carry one another through difficult seasons, because marriage was never promised to be free from trials. Galatians 6:2.
✔️It teaches fidelity and discipline, that our hearts, bodies and desires should not constantly wander outside the covenant we made. Matthew 5:28.
✔️It teaches us to encourage and build one another up, rather than becoming the person who constantly tears down the one they claim to love. 1 Thessalonians 5:11.
✔️It teaches us to be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to anger. Imagine how many marital conflicts would be handled differently if couples actually practised this. James 1:19.
✔️And above everything else, it teaches us to make God the foundation of the home. Psalm 127:1.
Unfortunately, when problems arise, many people take their marriages to social media before taking them to God or having honest conversations with their spouses. Strangers become advisers and judges, and online validation becomes more important than reconciliation.
You have to understand that its not every disagreement that requires an audience. It's not every offence that needs public validation.
Sometimes your marriage needs humility, accountability, forgiveness, communication, boundaries, faithfulness and two people willing to practise what the word of God already teaches.
This does not mean enduring abuse, betrayal or destructive behaviour in silence. Biblical forgiveness does not remove accountability, wisdom or necessary boundaries.
But for two people genuinely committed to building a healthy marriage, the blueprint is already there.
Before asking the internet what your marriage should look like, perhaps we should spend more time asking what God says it should look like. Be careful who you invite into your marriage.
Many of the people validating you online will not be there to help you rebuild what their advice helped you destroy.
May God keep you from a marriage you enter simply because you are tired of waiting. Sometimes, the danger is not the delay, but the impatience that makes you accept what God never appointed.
Psalm 27:14 | Habakkuk 2:3
May God protect your heart from people who look right but are completely wrong for your life. Something can look right in your eyes and still be wrong for your life. May God give you the discernment to know the difference.
Proverbs 14:12, Proverbs 3:5–6
May God save your future children from the consequences of a wrong choice. Your choice of a spouse does not affect you alone. It can influence the lives and future of your children. May God give you the courage and wisdom to choose well.
Proverbs 20:7
May your desire for marriage never lead you into a covenant that compromises your purpose or pulls you away from God’s will for your life. Not everyone is equipped to walk with you where God is taking you.
2 Corinthians 6:14 | Amos 3:3
May God teach you to trust His timing, even when waiting becomes difficult. May the pressure to marry never determine your choices. Someone else getting married earlier does not mean you are late. Your journey has its own timing.
Proverbs 16:9, Ecclesiastes 3:1
May God give you the courage to wait for what is right rather than settle for what is available. It is better to arrive later at the right destination than to rush into the wrong one.
Ecclesiastes 7:8
If this season of waiting is God’s way of protecting you, may He give you the grace not to sabotage His protection through impatience. May you trust that the same God who protected you from what you could not see before is still watching over you now. Psalm 121:5 | Psalm 84:11
May God heal anything within you that would make you choose what is familiar over what is right for you. May He search your heart, bring you into wholeness and give you the discernment to recognise His will.
Psalm 139:23–24
May God prepare you so thoroughly that when the right person comes, you will never have to become someone you are not just to keep them. May your marriage be built on authenticity, growth and alignment rather than pretence. 2 Peter 1:5–8
And may God reveal anything within you that could be standing in the way of the marriage you desire. May He expose your weaknesses, correct what needs correcting and give you the humility to grow, heal and obey His direction. Psalm 139:23–24
And while you wait, remember the woman described in Proverbs 31. She was not presented as a woman without identity, wisdom or economic value.
She was industrious, financially discerning and productive. She considered a field and bought it. She planted a vineyard from her earnings. She worked, traded, provided for her household and looked towards the future with confidence. Her husband trusted her, and her strength was an asset to her home. Proverbs 31:10–31
Marriage did not require her to become financially powerless in order to prove that she was a good wife. Her capacity, wisdom and diligence were part of what made her valuable to her household.
So never allow your age or fear of waiting to pressure you into negotiating away your wisdom, identity or everything you have worked hard to build.
A healthy marriage should create room for two people to build together with honesty, transparency and mutual commitment. It should not require one person to dismantle herself first as proof of love.
Sometimes, waiting is not rejection. It is protection. Know your worth, guard what God has entrusted to you, choose with wisdom and when marriage comes, may it be a covenant that brings peace, purpose, growth and glory to God.
Amen.
At least you can see that a man that wants to carry all the bills or always be ahead financially, is not doing it out of love but ego. They will frustrate your financial growth for their own ego.
This is what most men, whether 50/50 or those who believe there is nothing wrong with marrying a richer woman, are going through in their matrimonial homes.
But they'll never publicly admit it.
End.
From my DM:
Good morning, sir. It’s been a long time since we spoke, and I miss talking to you.
Sir, I would like to discuss something with you.
My mummy called me yesterday while she was at work. She said someone wanted to speak to me and that the person was from her village. I said okay. When she gave the man the phone, I greeted him and all.
The next thing he said was, “My brother is looking for a wife. I have known your mother for a long time, and she’s a good woman. Since your mother is a good woman, she would also give birth to a good girl.”
He said his brother is based in Sweden but comes back once in a while. He then asked if I was interested. I told him, first of all, that I don’t do long-distance relationships. Then I asked how old his brother was, and he said he was over 30.
Immediately, I told him that I wasn’t interested. My mother was shocked over the phone, and I could hear her scream.
He asked why, and I told him that the age gap was too much, as I’m just 22, and that I don’t do long-distance relationships.
Omoh, this man lectured me for more than 30 minutes 😭. He kept telling me that all of that wasn’t necessary and that I should just talk to his brother first and see how things go from there.
I told him that my father is more than 15 years older than my mother, and she is the one who carries most of the responsibility. I told him I wouldn’t want to make the same mistake twice.
After I told my mother that the maximum age gap I want for myself is five years, she said that men within that age bracket beat their wives, are unable to take good care of their wives, and that most of them are unserious. The man also said the same thing while trying to convince me.
I was honestly surprised that my mother allowed such a conversation to hold.
When she came back from work, I told her, “Is it because this man said his brother is based in Sweden that’s why you want to sell me off like that?” She said No oooh. I told her clearly that I wasn’t interested.
She called me again this morning to ask about it, and I repeated that I wasn’t interested. She was trying to instill fear, saying that I might not find a man if I missed this opportunity.
I told her that she would be alive to watch me marry someone less than five years older than me. I told her that before I even turn 25, this man would already be about 37 or 38.
I also told her that I don’t know anything about marriage yet and that I’m still young. I can’t even remember telling her that I want to get married😂.
She even said I should mark this day because I might regret my decision, but I told her I wouldn’t regret it.
She went to report me to my dad and my brother, but they haven’t said anything to me yet.
End.
When a man is asking you out, he does most of the calling.
When you accept to be his girlfriend, he still does most of the calling.
After he fucks you, the calling will reduce and his response to your calls or messages will be slower or delayed.
It's now your turn to be doing the calling and chasing.
If you allow his drop in communication or attention frustrate you and you start to crash out, he will use it as an opportunity to break up with you, because he has gotten what he initially wanted - your toto.
No matter what a man tells you when he was chasing you, he is mostly after your toto.
It's how you behave after he has chopped your toto that may keep him.
Getting a man's attention is cheap.
It's his commitment that is expensive.
End.
Dear girlfriends,
Each time you visit your boyfriend & you cook for him.
Please make sure that you eat together from one plate.
If he finishes the food with you all the time, he is not showing good signs of a selfless man.
It doesn't matter how delicious your food is.
End.
My mum has never pressured my sisters or me about marriage before and honestly, I find it suspicious 😭
Because almost every Nigerian mother I know behaves like marriage is a JAMB admission.
My friends can’t even drink water in peace without hearing:
‘When are you bringing a man home?’
But my mum?
Silence 😭
So out of curiosity, I told her:
‘Mummy, I don’t think I want to marry or even have children.’
Omo I was preparing for war.
I expected:
‘God forbid!’
‘Who offended you?’
‘You must marry!’
‘Who will take care of you when you’re old?!’
This woman just looked at me and said:
'Okay o. Marriage is not easy. If you don’t want it, don’t let society pressure you.’
😭😭😭
I almost checked if this woman was truly from Ijebu because what kind of emotionally stable response was that???
Years ago, this lady in my shop area fought her entire family because they didn't want her to marry the man she loved.
Their concern was that he wasn't educated, though he was a photographer.
Eventually, her family gave in and they got married.
According to her, the marriage has been one heartbreak after another; open cheating, six years of infertility with no financial support from him for treatment, and now they finally have a baby.
She earns ₦45,000 as a teacher. Two weeks ago, her husband stopped supporting her transport to work. Days later, he asked her to start buying diapers and milk for their baby from the same salary. This led to a serious argument.
After they argued, he stopped providing money for food.
This breastfeeding mother now survives on noodles so she can save enough for transport to work.
The saddest thing she told me was this:
"I am too ashamed to go back home because I fought everyone just to marry him."
