This has been on my mind the entire day.
Yes, it does get overwhelming and miserable. But this is the one decision I’m glad I made for myself.
Sometimes I have to pinch myself as a reminder that I’m pursuing a PhD. This is for my 13 year old self who dared to dream❤️
I love being a PhD student.
it feels like I’m expected to be miserable or overwhelmed.
but as a first-gen student, I’ve had to overcome a lot worse to get here.
to read and write and learn for a living feels like a gift that I hope I never take for granted, inshallah 🙏🏽

Somewhere in your 20s or 30s you’ll get the opportunity to rebuild your life after a negative loop, heal from what broke you, live in your own space, reconnect with your discipline, and learn to love yourself again. It’s very important that you see that journey through.
Non academic people commenting on academic people's work is always interesting. And the method of analysis is not fitting. PhDs are not analysed the way you would analyse a research article. Maybe look at the scoring charter before expecting something you will not find.
Mind you, a PhD isn’t even awarded by the institution itself. It goes through THREE examiners- at least one of which must be an international scholar with expertise in the subject. THEN it ALSO goes through the university faculty and senate. Idk why ppl undermine this process.
