A government witness has once again asked for more time in the cases against Haji Abdul Samad Khan. The court has now given a “final” extension, with the next hearing set for 25th September.

How much time does a witness need to give evidence?

If there is evidence, present it. If there isn’t, then surely there is no case and he should be released?

Repeated requests for more time, followed by yet another adjournment, look less like a genuine need for preparation and more like a mechanism for keeping a case alive.

International law prohibits enforced disappearance because it combines arbitrary detention with the refusal to acknowledge a person's fate or whereabouts, placing them outside the protection of the law.
