Pakistan’s total debt has reached nearly Rs100 trillion, according to the latest data from the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP). The country’s total debt stood at Rs99.6 trillion, reflecting a rise of Rs5.2 trillion.

Domestic debt reached Rs59.44 trillion, while external debt stood at around Rs36.19 trillion by June 2026. Pakistan also paid Rs11.97 trillion in debt repayments during fiscal year 2026, including Rs7.27 trillion in interest payments.

The rising debt burden remains a major challenge for the government as Pakistan continues discussions with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) over its economic programme and financial targets.
