After much reflection, I have decided to resign from my position as Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, effective today.

I cannot in good conscience support the ongoing war in Iran. Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation, and it is clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby.

It has been an honor serving under @POTUS and @DNIGabbard and leading the professionals at NCTC.

I’ve yet to see a single indication that this assault on Iran is clearly justified or that there was any serious preparation for what comes next.

Trump, Hegseth, and Rubio pulled the trigger on a war without a clear explanation, without a credible plan, and without protecting the Americans who would be caught in the crossfire.

Now our troops are exposed. American civilians were told to shelter in place, and now they’re supposed to find commercial flights that don’t exist.

Airports are closed. Nearly all airlines aren’t flying. The U.S. government didn't plan to arrange evacuations.

And we still don’t have real answers about why we’re at war.
