🚨🚨🚨OUTRAGEOUS! An Oklahoma Woman with with a non-viable pregnancy says the hospital told her to sit in the parking lot “until you bleed out.”
Jaci Statton, 25, was sick and bleeding from her partial molar pregnancy but the Oklahoma abortion ban prevented doctors from performing any procedure to help her remove the life threatening tissue.
"Oklahoma has three abortion bans in effect, and each of them has different language in describing the medical exceptions," says Rabia Muqaddam, senior staff attorney at the Center for Reproductive Rights. "It's resulted in extreme confusion about what constitutes a sufficient health condition for a doctor to provide a medically necessary abortion."
"A team of doctors and specialists came in and told us, 'There's nothing that we can do according to Oklahoma law. We can't even really touch you,'" Jaci recalls.
Jaci’s story is like potentially thousands like her. Women’s freedom isn’t just about choices, it’s literally about life and death.
If you are or have a wife, daughter, mother, or friend, we need to think about women’s freedom on a personal level. Their lives could be next.
someone on tiktok once said instead of dreading chores or working out etc start saying to yourself things like "I deserve to have clean clothes put away... I deserve to have a freshly made bed... I deserve to have a healthy hydrated body..." and it's really helped me so much
today my first grade class had music and the school i work at has 17 languages and cultures in just one part of the city and yet we still make them sing “god bless america”
i don’t understand
@ImmaculaRN i left nursing and now work with autistic children and it was the best move for my mental health, but it sucks knowing that i left and what the care would look like after. it’s a scary world in healthcare
@ImmaculaRN that’s also an issue!!! which is sad!!! it is true, i felt like i was hit by a truck and could never feel awake. i just manage my time and put those in rehab before me. i was told i “cared too much” but the older staff, and it’s those mindsets that aren’t okay 😭
@favoritecoz @ImmaculaRN yes!!!! like there are soooo many preventative stages before it gets to this. also disgusting that a nurse knows that what they look like and haven’t sent them out due to infections… no wound vac, no wound care, and the BM full of bacteria is just soaking into them. 😫😫
@ImmaculaRN this pt should’ve been sent out.these are family members and friends you are taking care of, you don’t get to just “choose” when to take care of them. the brief is overflowing, soaking into those ulcers and not a single person seems to care. that’s disturbing and 100% not okay.
@ImmaculaRN i’ve been the only CNA for 34 patients for a 16 hour shift and i never, NOT once, did not change my pt’s/residents or rotate them. it’s extreme neglect and people being lazy and not wanting to deal with it. - the fact that a nurse KNEW their patient looked like this is worse.
