Gut-wrenching news at today's #Mizzou press conference: freshman offensive lineman Johnnie "DJ" Jones is on a heart transplant list, after freshmen intake tests detected a problem.
"It's tough right now," HC Eli Drinkwitz said. "Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family, as they go through this. I know Johnnie was watching our game [against Florida]. It's just hard. An 18-year-old with everything in front of him and you're just not prepared for that kind of news...We're praying for him and I know a lot of Mizzou fans will hopefully join in that prayer because he does need help in a hurry."
“I love New Orleans. I love this place, and you see the energy, the passion of everybody […] and it sucks when you don’t come through on the field in that way, especially against our division rival.”
#Saints QB Tyler Shough on the fan support during the game and how the team will respond.
“I don’t wanna feel like that ever again.”
Will never forget the day.
My rookie year, standing on the sideline of the Superdome and Steve Gleason walked out. 5 years after the blocked punt, just recently having announced his ALS diagnosis.
He raised his fist in the air, dropped it down and every voice in the entire city of New Orleans hit the Who Dat chant. Loudest I had ever heard a stadium in my young career.
Immediate goosebumps.
You could tell what it felt like when an entire city united as one beating heart. For something so much bigger than football.
Truly incredible. Saints fans are a special crew.
