It was great presenting my research, as well as meeting familiar (and new) faces, particularly Emanuel, whom I've interacted and colloborated with online for almost a year. I also met wonderful people such as Janne and Simon in person for the first time.
My presentation focused on systemic barriers to open access publishing among humanities and social sciences researchers. I answered several thought-provoking questions from the audience. That signified their interest in my research #RESSH2024

I was privileged to attend the 86th annual meeting of ASIS&T held in London, UK, from October 27-31, 2023.
I presented a short paper titled, "I am in a privileged situation: Examining the factors causing inequity in open access publishing." See link in the thread!
This year's acceptance rate was just 28%, so getting accepted into the conference was a big deal. Aside from getting to present my research, I got to travel to the UK for the first time (had some sightseeing), and I met big names in the Information Studies field.
I met many wonderful scholars, grew my network, and also connected with potential collaborators, particularly those working on research related to #schoComms. I also met my friends from @mcgillsis, Aaron and Peymon.
For instance, I met my thesis external examiner, Dr. Heather O’Brien, and I had a long chat with my supervisor's supervisor, Prof. @lisagiven. I also met my boss at uOttawa, Prof. @bowkerl in-person for the first since working together on a project since July.
