@andymoz78 This was a pleasure to write with the vast share of hard work by the talented @MaireRoeder! A real pleasure to summarise the evidence and highlight areas of further research need for this core skill! Thanks @andymoz78!
This study in @Nature addresses an important issue but erases the discrimination experienced by Asians in academia by lumping them in with white academics. And in this way, it elegantly pulls a racism while pointing out racism (1/7)

Intubation in critically patient hills I’m willing to die on (so patients don’t) include
1) ‘classic RSI’ is a dogma driven protocol with no place in critical illness
2) preoxygenation with an ambu bag is a crime, but so is apnea- ventilate the patient during apnea
This is sadly not that uncommon, sometimes the first person who tells someone they are dying is me as I discuss limits of care and ICU admission (or not). We have to be honest with patients, ignoring reality helps no one.

Never let them tell you that they're all the same. Never let them suggest politics makes no difference. Never listen to the siren voices who prioritise their political purity over winning. People who would have been sent to Rwanda now won't be, because Labour is in government.
