“To Nigerians supporting this bad governance: “you will serve these politicians’ children, carry their bags for them, and your children will still be serving their children’s children unless you wake up.”

17.9 Million Nigerians Fall Into Multidimensional Poverty In Three Years, The World’s Largest Increase — UN Report
Nigeria recorded the world’s largest increase in multidimensional poverty, with 17.9 million additional people falling into poverty between 2021 and 2024, according to the 2026 Global Multidimensional Poverty Index.
The report, published by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative, showed a reversal of Nigeria’s progress in poverty reduction between 2018 and 2021.
Nigeria recorded a higher increase than Afghanistan, where 5.3 million additional people became multidimensionally poor during its latest assessment period.
“In absolute terms, the largest increase in the number of poor people is seen in Nigeria… 17.9 million people became multidimensionally poor,” the report stated.
The index measures deprivation beyond income, including access to healthcare, education, electricity, clean water, sanitation, adequate housing and nutrition.
According to the report’s harmonised comparison, Nigeria’s multidimensional poverty rate rose from 33 per cent in 2021 to 38.7 per cent in 2024, while the number of affected people increased from 72.21 million to 90.07 million.
A separate 2024 national estimate put the number of multidimensionally poor Nigerians at 113.32 million, representing 48.7 per cent of the population. The figure uses a different estimation method and is not directly comparable with the historical comparison.
The report identified Kebbi, Yobe and Sokoto among the states with the highest poverty burdens, while Lagos recorded the lowest Multidimensional Poverty Index value.
Globally, 1.2 billion people were living in acute multidimensional poverty, including 617 million children under 18.
The findings highlight Nigeria’s challenge in achieving the United Nations’ goal of reducing poverty in all its forms by at least half by 2030.
Do your jobs @premierleague - you’ve found @ManCity guilty of all 115 charges, making them the biggest cheats in football history. So now announce their punishment immediately, act on it, and save this season from being an irrelevant farce.
@SkySportsPL We hate to admit, Wirtz signing took Liverpool backwards. It regressed a title wining midfield.
Agreed with Carra...I will always pick mid 3 of grav, szobo and macalister over adding him in that team
It's a victory that is likely to mean absolutely nothing in a couple of months when City get their punishment for nearly a decade of cheating. What a mess the Premier League is in.
Anyone who didn’t watch this match and just sees the result will think City battered Liverpool
Liverpool were literally the better team until the red card😭
How long is the stench of the “sham” going to corrode the meaning, worth, and very essence of the Premier League?
Listening to commentary about Manchester City’s players matching the defiance of their ownership and triumphing in adversity.
Listening to fans chorusing the names of the men running the club, wearing masks or displaying banners of their faces and jibing: “We’re Man City, we’ll cheat when we want.”
Victory being framed as “a lovely moment,” a show of togetherness as though some grave injustice has been imposed on City, rather than their hierarchy being found by an independent commission to have orchestrated financial doping on an industrial scale.
Their opponents and the rest of us wondering if any of this actually matters now and how much of it ever did?
There can be no business as usual pretence. We need a full stop to the absurdity.
That's a very harsh decision from Kavanagh.
Moments after he failed to penalise Guehi for wrestling Koumas to the ground, and failed to book Anderson for a tug on Gravenberch.
Manchester City, who are found guilty of 114 charges, have found another way to cheat on the pitch, thanks to Chris Kavanagh.
The corruption continues in the Premier League.
Nedu woke up this morning and decided to call out the Nigerian government and also talk about the regressing situation of Nigeria
Bro!! This video breaks my heart💔💔
If Ibrahim Traoré Could Change Burkina Faso in Three Years, Why Should Nigerians Keep Waiting for Tinubu’s Promised Change Almost Four Years Into His Government of Hardship? https://t.co/QsnGW3rchr
I just heard a story that almost made me m@d!💔
Ayo Adio, the ADC Candidate for the Eti-Osa House of Assembly Constituency, visited a community in his constituency to interact with the residents and sell his programmes. But he discovered that they hadn't had light for several months and were struggling to survive in darkness.
He swore to them that he'd resolve the electricity issue by clearing their outstanding bills. The following week, he visited NEPA with the community leaders. He paid off the outstanding debt and brought NEPA officials to reconnect the light.
As the electricity was restored, the community lit up in frenzied joy and jubilation. Word got to the APC representatives in the constituency. The following week, they ordered NEPA to disconnect the light.
As I type, the community is thrown back into darkness - helpless and hopeless. I can’t express how sad and utterly disgusted I feel right now!✍️
