I got to meet OB1 last week for the first time. We rode to West Nile for the weekend with my comrades from @BikersUganda. Such an amazing soul. We laughed all weekend not knowing that was the first and last time we would be together.
OB1 passed on yesterday after hitting a pothole in Kampala. For a man who rode allover East Africa with great precision to pass on like this is very unfortunate and sad.
I will miss the adventurous comrade I was looking forward to ride with.
Ride with the Angels Comrade OB1. This is very hard to take in.
@nabcillah@wekesa_amos You want to tell me you've never heard of the term delegate??? So the office stops working coz she's on leave? Yoooo. There's a problem 😕
SOUTH AFRICAN VISAS
UGANDAN PASSPORTS
Guys, a person called MODJADJI MAHLANGU - Consular officer at South African High Commission, in Kampala took passports of Ugandans who had applied for visas.
She locked their passports in her office and not even a single person at South African high commission, in Kampala can do anything.
Her office was locked yesterday and locked today, some of the passports holders were meant to travel for 2 oceans marathons, paid tickets, accommodations and the high commission in Kampala says they don’t know where she is.
SOUNDS LIKE A JOKE! @HomeAffairsSA what’s this?
Ministry of foreign affairs Uganda( @mofaug ) please don’t take this lightly, follow it up and let Ugandans not be taken for granted.
Tag South African authorities.
HR: We lost the new hire today.
CEO: What happened?
HR: He resigned after his first week.
CEO: That makes no sense. We doubled his previous salary.
HR: Yes, but salary was not the issue.
CEO: Then what was?
HR: You asked him why he left at exactly 5:00 p.m. And why he left the office before you did.
CEO: I was just trying to understand his mindset.
HR: He understood it clearly. He felt the company was not paying for his work, but for control over his time.
CEO: But commitment matters.
HR: So do boundaries. He finished his work, met expectations, and left on time. But instead of that being seen as professionalism, it was treated like a lack of loyalty.
CEO: People should not rush out of the office.
HR: He was not rushing out. He was simply leaving when the workday ended.
CEO: Still, it did not look right.
HR: That is exactly why he left. He realized very quickly that even with better pay, the culture expected presenteeism over performance.
CEO: That is unfortunate.
HR: Yes. We offered him double the salary, but also gave him a preview of a workplace where leaving on time becomes a character issue.
CEO: So what are you saying?
HR: If employees are judged for having boundaries, then no amount of money will make them stay.
A higher salary can attract people. But if respect for time is missing, it will not keep them.
I remember this day so clearly.
He was seated there, but his mind was miles away - drowning in thoughts about an uncertain future for his children. He was battling a boda boda loan from YAKO BANK, and they had already threatened to repossess his bike because he had defaulted. >>>
