When I celebrated Pa Reuben Famuyide Fasoranti’s 100th birthday in May, I wrote, “100 years, and not a stain on his name.” Today, as the nation mourns his passing, I return to those words. To live so long, with so much responsibility, and retain the respect of generations is a remarkable achievement.
We were fortunate to have him with us for a century. Still, saying farewell to an elder of his standing is painful. His life reminds us how much a good name matters, and the care we must take to preserve it.
On behalf of my family, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the Fasoranti family, Afenifere, and the Government and people of Ondo State. I hope his loved ones find comfort in the affection and respect with which Baba will be remembered across our country.
