👨💻 A Day in the Life of a SOC Analyst
Think cybersecurity is all red teaming and zero-days? Let’s talk about what life actually looks like inside a Security Operations Center (SOC).
Here’s what a typical day as a SOC analyst really involves. 🧵
I am 55, here is what I would tell my 25 year old self about life...
1. Faith is the most important thing in life. For me it is faith in Christ, nothing else compares.
2. Success comes on the other side of failure. Fail fast, fail forward.
3. Take care of your body now - it's much harder to fix problems later than to prevent them in the first place.
4. Money saved in your 20s is worth far more than money saved in your 50s. Start investing early, even if it's just a small amount.
5. That job you hate? It's teaching you valuable lessons about what you don't want. Pay attention.
6. The skills that seem irrelevant today might become your competitive advantage tomorrow. Keep learning.
7. Your parents won't be around forever. Ask them questions now, learn their stories, and spend time with them.
8. Mental health is just as important as physical health. Don't be afraid to seek help when you need it.
9. The person you marry will impact every aspect of your life. Choose wisely, not quickly.
10. Your time is worth more than money. Don't waste years in a situation just because you've already invested time in it.
11. Travel while you have fewer responsibilities. Those experiences will shape your worldview forever.
12. The friends who celebrate your success are rare and precious. Keep them close.
13. Your biggest regrets will be the chances you didn't take, not the ones you took and failed at.
14. That voice telling you you're not good enough? Everyone has it. Success comes from acting despite it.
15. The habits you form now will carry you through life. Make them good ones.
16. You don't need to have it all figured out by 25. Some of the best things in life come from unexpected directions.
17. Be kind to yourself. The mistakes you're beating yourself up about won't matter in five years.
18. Your network is your net worth. Build genuine relationships, not just professional connections.
19. The best investment you can make is in yourself - your skills, your health, and your knowledge.
20. Life moves faster than you think. Don't wait to do the things that really matter to you.
Life is short, embrace it and pass down lessons to others while you can.
