The same God who appeared to Adam in the cool of the day appeared to Abraham in the heat of the day.

Adam: “in the cool of the day…” — Genesis 3:8.
Abraham: “in the heat of the day…” — Genesis 18:1.

Think about that!

If Adam’s experience becomes your theology, you may conclude, “God comes in the cool.”

Then God shows up at Abraham’s tent in the heat!

God cannot be boxed into the conditions of His previous visitation.

He may come in the cool.
He may come in the heat.
He may come in the fire.
He may come in a still small voice.
He may come in a dream.
He may come through a man you almost overlooked.

THE FIRST RULE OF NOT MISSING YOUR VISITATION IS: NEVER TURN YOUR LAST VISITATION INTO A FORMULA.

One of the greatest dangers of an encounter with God is assuming that because you have encountered Him, you now know exactly how He must come.

God is consistent in character, but incredibly diverse in expression.

The burning bush was Moses’ encounter—not everybody’s formula.

The whirlwind was Elijah’s experience—but God was not in the wind.

The star led the wise men—but angels spoke to the shepherds.

Paul encountered Christ through a blinding light on the Damascus road; Timothy was formed through Scripture, family influence and apostolic impartation.

SAME GOD. DIFFERENT METHODS.

Do not become so loyal to the cool of yesterday that you miss God standing in the heat of today.

Sometimes we are praying, “Lord, do it again!”

And God is saying, “Recognise Me again!”

Because visitation is not merely about recognising a method.

IT IS ABOUT RECOGNISING GOD—EVEN WHEN HE CHANGES THE METHOD.

Abraham did not say, “This cannot be God; it is too hot!”

He discerned the visitation in conditions that did not look convenient for visitation.

That is maturity.

Never worship the temperature of your last encounter.

Never make a doctrine out of the weather in which God last met you.

God cannot be boxed.

Stay discerning.

Your next visitation may not look anything like your last one.
