Maureen is a business lady at Kapletundo Centre Bomet county, where she operates a wines and spirits shop. On Saturday, officers from Kapletundo Police Post went to Maureen’s home and forcefully took her to her place of work to collect their weekly bribe. They forced her to open her joint, but Maureen refused because it was not yet the official opening time for wines & spirits businesses.

That is when hell broke loose & they started beating her, seriously injuring her after banging her head against the wall. Maureen was taken for a CT scan, and that is where it was discovered that she had suffered serious injuries. She's also suffering from memory loss.

This is why she has not been able to speak up to now and is currently communicating using sign language, as you have seen. The family is requesting IPOA to investigate the matter and ensure that Maureen gets justice, at least so that she can continue taking care of her children.
