Like maybe you could argue they are arsenical bronze or an early cupronickel alloy, but iron being distinct & identifiable is important to the plot.

first episode of Red River was as I expected & doesn't quite hold up to the competition this season. Will still watch it for nostalgia but am confused by all of the iron before the events of volume 3. Like, access to iron weapons is a major plot point? Where's the bronze???

@Knightly_Hist superimposed loads are when you load charges on top of one another, there are wheellock versions with two shots but snap tinderlocks went up to 8 (or flintlock XII.1122 at the royal armouries which is loaded with drilled bullets, for 23 shots as shown in the diagram)
