A cave dive with an entrance at 58m is not a site for regular recreational divers from a liveaboard. That is advanced technical diving territory.
So why were established dive regulations and depth limits ignored in the first place?
Please speak with compassion about those carrying out these operations. They are not expendable they are human beings risking their lives so others may find closure.
A sad day for the Maldives a political victory for both the opposition parties and the ruling party, for All the Wrong Reasons .
For those of us who work in tourism, and tell our guests “we protect sharks here,” that promise no longer holds true. With Gulper shark fisheries now reinstated, our Shark Sanctuary legacy has been broken.
This opens dangerous loopholes, encourages targeting of other species, and weakens the Maldives’ global reputation for conservation.

"Wow, thrilled to see Fuvahmulah, Maldives shining on Netflix's #AllTheSharks! This global exposure will surely boost tourism and showcase our island's stunning natural beauty & unique wildlife. A big win for Maldives' tourism & conservation efforts 🌊🦈 https://t.co/QOWoJPbt6K
Farewell, Maniishapriet: Forever in Our Hearts
Today we bid farewell to Maniishapriet Kaur Akhara as her ashes are returned to her hometown in Sarawak.
Our hearts are heavy as we remember a cherished member of our University family whose presence touched so many.
A few days ago, our community came together in a candlelight vigil to honour Maniishapriet’s life, her kindness, and her vibrant spirit.
We extend our deepest condolences to Maniishapriet’s family and loved ones. Please know that the entire University stands with you in this time of grief. As we bid her farewell, let us hold her memory close and continue to support one another as a community.
May her Soul rest in eternal peace.
I guess it makes sense. Nothing worked out, Rasmale' way behind schedule, phase 3 , gulhifalhu and bridge seems stuck in limbo. Forget the underwata tunnal.
Still no flat list released.
Aasandha reduced, council budget reduced, subsidies slashed.
Yet 500 million spent on drones that struggle in a light breeze.
Decided to pick a fight with India and make numerous other foreign diplomacy blunders.
EC, ACC,MMA and BML brought under thumb.
So it makes sense to try throwing a haymaker to turn around the public. But seemingly at the cost of angering his greatest funders.
Lets see lets see. So far the most atrocious first year of any president.
“We should be putting our energy toward something that actually matters,” he said. “Maybe the lives of, I don’t know, Palestinians in Gaza right now. Maybe that’s where we put our hearts and our energy in, and anyone suffering, anyone oppressed, anyone that is suffering under the weight of the horrors of our world right now, anyone who doesn’t have a choice in living lives of dignity. That’s where our energy should be going right now.”
