A strategic partnership is being planned between Somali Airlines and the Qatar Airways. Under the new plan, Qatar Airways will take a 40% stake, while the Somali government and businessmen will own 60%.

Despite foreign investment, the Somalia’s national carrier (Somaliairlines) will operate under the Somali name and flagcarrier , fully restoring the Somali Airlines.

Official sources close to U.S. foreign policy decision-making have confirmed that during his administration, U.S. President Donald J. Trump firmly supported the unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia.

According to the sources, President Trump explicitly instructed senior U.S. officials that no proposal or document referring to “Somaliland” as an independent state would ever be accepted or submitted to his office. He emphasized that Somaliland is an inseparable part of the Federal Republic of Somalia.

The same sources stated that Trump also warned Israel against engaging in or interfering in Somali territory or its internal affairs, noting that such actions could undermine stability in the Horn of Africa and weaken regional security.

In addition, diplomatic sources confirmed that President Trump was persuaded to take this position following significant diplomatic efforts led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the State of Qatar. These efforts reportedly played a major role in convincing the U.S. leadership not to interfere in Somalia’s internal affairs and to respect its unity and territorial integrity. Trump was said to have accepted the view that Somalia���s stability depends on international respect for its sovereignty and unified statehood.

These positions were part of a broader U.S. strategy at the time aimed at preserving stability in the Horn of Africa, limiting foreign interference, and supporting Somalia as a single, unified federal state.

Turkey’s military has deployed the ASELSAN EIRS / ALP-300G early-detection radar system to Somalia, where it is stationed at the TURKSOM military base. The primary goal of this deployment is training. The system is being used as a dedicated training platform to instruct the Somali National Army in modern radar operations, early warning techniques, and basic air surveillance under direct Turkish supervision.

According to informed sources, this training occurs within the framework of TURKSOM, Turkey’s most extensive military base outside its borders. While TURKSOM initially focused on basic infantry training, Turkish military officials confirm that its mission has expanded to include advanced technical education, such as drone operations, simulator-based instruction, and systems familiarization.

Meanwhile, Turkish civil aviation engineers are also evaluating Somalia’s civil aviation radar infrastructure, with discussions underway to restore air-traffic surveillance capabilities and develop a system similar to Turkey’s HTRS-100, modeled after the system Tubasic air surveillance
