Karnataka government has cleared a bill that seeks to reserve 50 per cent of management jobs and 75 per cent of non-management jobs for locals in private sector. The Karnataka sarkara is also contemplating 100% reservation for locals in "C&D" grade government jobs.
The bill is called the State Employment of Local Candidates in the Industries, Factories and Other Establishments Bill, 2024.
In 2023, the Punjab and Haryana HC struck down the Harayana Government's State Employment of Local Candidates Act, 2020, declaring it "unconstitutional".
What will "Samvidhan sewaks" say now? Especially those that whine about how the Modi-led NDA is desecrating the spirit of the Constitution.
