The meeting highlighted the strong and longstanding relations between the two countries, with discussions focusing on areas of collaboration including legal affairs, governance, trade, investment, and capacity building.

The engagement reaffirmed the commitment of both Kenya and India to strengthening bilateral ties and advancing partnerships that promote shared prosperity and sustainable development.

Happening Now: Day two of the sensitisation workshop for the Kenya's National Implementation Committee (NIC) on the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Implementation Strategy in Nairobi.

The workshop spearheaded by the State Department for Trade in collaboration with the Kenya Association of Manufacturers is meant to equip the NIC with requisite skills and knowledge for effective implementation of the AfCFTA.

The committee membership is drawn from Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), the private sector, academia and the civil society.

Participants are being taken through several key topics including the National AfCFTA National Implementation Strategy outlining priority sectors for good and services, terms of reference defining the roles and responsibilities of the NIC and market entry requirements for accessing the continental market.

Others are, the Guided Trade Initiative a pilot project under the AfCFTA and the draft AfCFTA NICs focal persons 2025-2027 work plan outlining specific activities, goals and targets.

The AfCFTA aims to boost intra-Africa trade, promote economic growth, attract investment and enhance regional integration.
