“now that we’re talking about it, let me tell the story. it’s actually a very old song. my parents really like this song. and whenever we traveled overseas, i’d often hear buskers performing it. so i have a lot of good memories connected to this song.

then, around the time he was preparing to join begin again:

“i happened to be endlessly replaying a video of andrea bocelli singing this song. i just kept watching it over and over again. i thought this was such a good chance to try it and to challenge a song that’s outside of the vocal range i usually sing in.” 🥹🫶🏻

for nanjing love bulletin, chenle explained why he acted so playful on stage 😭

“because it’s a very playful song. it’s cute, cheerful, and full of energy.”

so he felt that his performance should match that feeling.

“i wanted to be a little more playful.”

chenle said “i think when you’re on stage, if you perform a little more exaggeratedly, the audience will feel like it’s just right. but if you only perform at the level that feels “just right” to you, the audience might feel like something is missing.”

“maybe i’m just talking nonsense right now. maybe i’m just trying to rationalize what i did today.”

“i wanted to express my playful and cute side. so i made it a little more exaggerated.”
